Etowah to Junta

From the yards on the east and west  sides at Etowah (MP 333.5) with a 25 mph speed restriction across street crossings in Etowah, the line heads just west of due south, single track, Yard Limits, maximum speed 20 mph past Etowah Terminal (MP 335.2), where CTC starts, maximum speed 60 mph, and SE Etowah (MP 336.6), where the "Old Line" (the "Hook & Eye", past Copperhill to North Elizabeth, now operated by a number of short lines) departs on the east side, turning south-southwest past a detector at "Delano" (MP 339.9), and curvily southwest with a speed restriction to 45 mph from MP 341.8 to MP 344.0, to the 94-car dual-ended spur on the west side at Patty (MP 344.7), on the north bank of the Hiwasee River, where the Calhoun Branch departs on the west side.

The line turns south-southwest, past Benton and the 6,875 ft. west side siding (30 mph on the siding) at Oooee (MP 353.3), turning south with a speed restriction to 50 mph from MP 354.3 to MP 355.7, south-southwest where an erstwhile line to Parksville once headed east, south again past a detector at "Old Fort" (MP 357.4), just east of due south and then just west of due south past a 4-car south-facing spur at Conasauga (MP 362.0), Tennga, the border between Tennessee and Georgia, a speed restriction to 50 mph between MP 364.5 and MP 371.8, Cisco, the 6,765 ft. east side siding (30 mph on the siding) at Fairy (MP 367.7, Crandall, Elon, and a detector at "Chatsworth" (MP 375.6), before turning south-southeast.

There is an east side unsignaled siding (10 mph) at Chatsworth (MP 378.6), a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 381.1 to MP 385.6, Ramhurst, a 50 mph sped restriction from MP 385.6 to MP 393.0, a 3-car north-facing spur at MP 388.4, the 8,275 ft. east side siding (30 mph on the siding) at Coniston (MP 389.1) and Carters, where the line turns south-southwest, turning south at Oakman, past Colima, a 17-car south-facing spur at Ranger (MP 398.1), a detector at "Ranger" (MP 399.7), a 12-car dual-ended spur at Fairmont (MP 402.8), a 30 mph speed restriction from MP 403.1 to MP 403.8, and the 8,715 ft. east side siding (30 mph on the siding) at Bolivar (MP 405.3), then sharply southeast and then south-southwest, with a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 408.1 to MP 410.2, past Rydal, and a 15-car north-facing spur at White (MP 414).

The line continues south-southwest, past a detector at "Wyvern" (MP 417.0) and the 12,750 ft. west side siding (30 mph on the siding) at Wyvern (MP 418.3), turning south with a 50 mph speed restriction from MP 419.6 to MP 422.4, past crossovers at North Yard (MP 421.0), and then a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 422.4 to MP 422.7, the wye on the west side at K&A Wye (MP 422.6), with the former SAL line to Rockmart heading southwest, under the W&A, and the junction where the line trails into the north side of the Western & Atlantic (later NC&StL) line, between Chattanooga and Atlanta, at Junta (MP 422.8).
