Knoxville to Etowah

From a flat crossing at Willoughby with the NS line between Knoxville and Chattanooga, with connector in the west, north, and east quadrants, and a connector on the west side trailing in from the NS line previously bridged to the north, past the yard on the west side at West Knoxville (MP 275.8), where the line turns east-northeast within the yard, single track, Yard Limits, maximum speed 60 mph for intermodal trains and 50 mph for other freight trains, but local speed restriction 20 mph, turning south-southeast across the Tennessee River bridge, then south where an erstwhile connection from the Southern Railway once trailed in on the east side, and curvily south-southwest past the end of Yard Limits at MP 276.5, where there is a continuing speed restriction of 30 mph through Knoxville, past a 37-car dual-ended spur at Kingsley (MP 277.5), to MP 277.9, where full line speeds prevail.

There is a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 280.7 to MP 282.1, after which full line speeds prevail, past the 4,866 ft west side siding at Singleton (MP 283.9), a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 284.5 to MP 284.7, after which full line speeds prevail, MP 284.8, where the maximum speed for intermodal trains rises to 70 mph, the former junction with the erstwhile Mentor ro Jena line on the west side at Mentor (MP 286.5), where the line turns south, the junction with the Marysville Branch, departing on the east side at Armona, where the line turns curvily just west of due south, a 55 mph speed restriction from MP 287.4 to MP 287.6 (only), a 55 mph speed restriction from MP 289.5 to MP 290.1 (only), and a detector at MP 292.0.

The line turns curvily southwest, past a 6-car north-facing spur at MP 295.9, the 4,937 ft. east side siding at Binfield (MP 296.6), a detector at "Binfield" (MP 298.1), a wye on the west side with the other end of the erstwhile Mentor to Jena line at Jena, an 18-car dual-ended spur at McGhee (MP 306.1), a bridge over the artificial Tellico Lake, a 25 mph speed restriction through Vonore, from MP 308.0 to MP 309.0 (only), an 8-car north-facing spur at Vonore (MP 308.2), a detector at MP 311.3, the resumption of Two Main Tracks at Fagin (MP 312.8), the start of single track at Madison (MP 316.0), a 25 mph sped restriction through Madisonville, from MP 316.4, past a north-facing spur at Madisonville (MP 316.9), to MP 317.3 (only), a detector at "Gudger" (MP 321.6), and a 60 mph speed restriction from MP 325.0 to MP 325.2 (only).

There is a wye on the west side with the A&T Branch (MP 326.6) to Athens, that once continued on the east side to Tellico Plains, a turn just west of due south with a 55 mph speed restriction from MP 327.1 to MP 329.9, past a 4-car south-facing spur at MP 327.4 and the 5,021 ft. west side siding at Englewood (MP 327.9), a turn curvily south at Addison, with a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 329.9 to MP 330.1, Grady, a 55 mph speed restriction from MP 330.1 to MP 333.3, a 15-car dual-ended spur at Beaunit (MP 331.1), the start of Yard Limits at MP 333.2, with a 25 mph speed restriction across street crossings in Etowah, and the yards on the east and west  sides at Etowah (MP 333.5).
