Vera to CW Tower (Columbus)

From the junction between the NS Columbus District, heading just east of due north, and the NS Cincinnati District, heading away northwest, at Vera (MP 105.0), the former continues, double track, current-of-traffic (Rule 251), Automatic Block Signals, maximum speed 60mph for intermodal trains and 50 mph for other freight trains, but local restriction 50 mph on curves between  MP 608.5 and MP 614.7, up the east side of the Scioto River, past Davis, George (MP 613.0), a turn just west of due north, detectors at "Lucasville" (MP 616.3), Lucasville (MP 617.4), Clifford, a 45 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 621.8 to MP 622.0 as the line turns north, detectors at MP 622.7, a 10-car spur at Sargents (MP 626.6), Van Heter, a turn northeast, Teays Spur Junction, where a spur from the USG Teays Plant trails in from the south (i.e. on the east side), and Piketon (MP 630.8).

There is a 50 mph speed limit on the curve between MP 630.9 and MP 631.1, as the line runs along the east bank of the Scioto River, detectors at "Piketon" (MP 631.3), a 45 mph speed restriction on curves between MP 631.1 and MP 631.7, a 50 mph speed restriction on curves between MP 631.7 and MP 633.5, a 40 mph speed restriction on curves between MP 633.5 and MP 634.1, as the line turns north with the CSX line to Columbus briefly nearby to the east, a 35 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 634.1, past the bridge over the Scioto River, crossovers at Glen Jean (MP 635.0), where the erstwhile Detroit, Toledo & Ironton once crossed on the flat (at an acute angle) and a 10-car spur at Waverly (MP 636.0), where the line turns curvily east-northeast, following the direction of the river, to MP 636.3, after which full line speeds prevail.

Single track, Traffic Control, starts at Omega (MP 642.0), where the maximum speed drops to 45 mph, past Higbys a detector at "Higby" (MP 645.4), where the line makes a big turn to the north-northwest, still following the course of the river, a 40 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 645.6 and MP 645.7, past Pride, leaving the riverbank behind as the river turns  away, the start of Two Main Tracks, Traffic Control, at Lunbeck (MP 652.0), MP 653.2, where the maximum speed drops to 35 mph a turn north, bridging over Paint Creek, a turn north-northwest, through a 5,100 ft. siding, crossovers, and flat crossing with the  rump of a CSX line (former Cincinnati, Hamilton, & Dayton branch from Dayton, now no longer a through route) at Benick (MP 655.1).

There is a 30 mph speed restriction on curves between MP 655.1 and MP 656.6, as the line turns just west of due north, past the resumption of single track at Chillicothe (MP 655.8), where the rump of the former B&O main line trails in on the east side (and once continued across a flat crossing, northwest, heading for Cincinnati), just east of due north, bridging over the Scioto River again, north past the start of double track, current-of-traffic (Rule 251), Automatic Block Signals, at Scioto (MP 657.0), where the maximum speed rises to 50 mph on the westward track and 60 mph on the eastward track, and north-northeast, with a 45 mph speed restriction on the westward track and a 50 mph speed restriction on the eastward track, on the curve from MP 658.3 to MP 658.6, passing beneath a bridge carrying the CSX Columbus line overhead.

The line turns just east of due north, with a 45 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 660.4 to MP 660.6, northeast past detectors at "Delano" (MP 662.6) and Kinnikinnick, north-northeast to a 10-car spur at Kingston (MP 666.7), where a line to Adelphi once headed east, north-northwest past MP 667.0, where the maximum speed rises to 60mph on both tracks, and Elmwood Farm, turning curvily north, with a 50 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 669.7 to MP 669.9, past detector at MP 670.6, Hayesville, the start of Yard Limits at MP 671.9, a 10,964 ft. siding and 10-car spur at Dorney (MP 673.0), a 25 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 674.9 to MP 676.8, as the line turns northwest, past Circleville (MP 675.7), where there was once a flat crossing with an erstwhile PRR line, and then just east of due north, past the end of Yard Limits at MP 677.1.

There is a 50 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 677.1 to MP 677.3, as the line turns due north, past a 100-car spur at Ritts (MP 679.5), detectors at "Ritts" (MP 681.0), with the CSX (former C&O) Columbus line alongside to the west, a 40 mph speed restriction through Ashville, from MP 684.0 to MP 684.4, Ashville (MP 684.5), a 50 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 685.3 to MP 685.5, as the line turns just east of due north, again alongside the former C&O, past Duveils, a 50 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 690.2 to MP 690.5, through Cathera and Lockbourne, a 45 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 690.9 to MP 691.3, as the line turns north-northeast, past Miner (MP 692.0) and the just east of due north past detectors at "Miner" (MP 693.0) and Reese.

Yard Limits start at MP 694.9, past the yard, crossovers, junction and flat crossing with the CSX (former Hocking Valley) line at Valley Crossing (MP 696.7), where the maximum speed drops to 40 mph, Watkins Road Yard on the west side of the line, with a spur connected to a wye on the west side, just north of the yard, the crossovers, junction and flat crossing with the former Conrail (Toledo & Ohio Central) at Bannon (MP 698.8), where 2MT, TC, replace the double track, Rule 251 (except current-of-traffic still prevails on the eastward track), a spur at Dealers Lumber (MP 702.5), a 25 mph speed restriction from MP 702.5 to MP 704.6, a bridge over the former PRR main line to Pittsburgh (no longer a through route), crossovers at JO (MP 703.0), MP 703.1, where TC replaces Rule 251 on the eastward track, a turn to the west at Woodland Avenue, where an erstwhile Toledo & Ohio Central line once trailed in from the west, the former yard at Joyce Avenue (MP 704.3), where the N&W once handed off trains to the PRR, an erstwhile connector from whose main east-west line once trailed in from the southeast at the crossovers (MP 704.4, 25 mph on the crossovers), junction with a line into Columbus heading south-southwest and former flat crossing with the erstwhile former Conrail (former PRR) line northeast to Akron, at CW Tower (MP 704.6), where Yard Limits end and the line continues on former PRR right-of-way.
