Framingham to Worcester

From the junction at CP-21 (MP 21.3), where the Framingham Secondary from Mansfield trails in from the southeast and continues northwest, across the line, to East Fitchburg, a street alongside to the south, a box labeled "21" on the north side, an MBTA and Amtrak passenger station, with two side platforms, umbrella sheds and pedestrian bridge at Framingham (MP 21.4), a track trailing in on the north side, and the junction at CP-22 (MP 21.7), where the Holliston Industrial Track  heads south, there is a five-track yard on the north side, and the main line heads west-southwest, double track, CTC, speed limit 40 mph, past a lake alongside to the north, a road bridge overhead, and a river alongside to the north.

The line turns southwest, past MP 22.0, where the passenger speed limit rises to 50 mph, MP 22.5, where the passenger speed limit rises to 60 mph, a road bridge overhead, Intermediate Signals at MP 23.x, a street to the north, an angled grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 24.x, a grade crossing, detectors at MP 24.9, the MBTA station with two side platforms at Ashland, where the line turns just north of due west, past a wooded area, then just south of due west, and then west, past a bridge over a road, an MBTA station with two side platforms (MP 27.x), Intermediate Signals at MP 28.x, a road bridge overhead, dual angled road bridges overhead, a track trailing in on the north side, Westboro (MP 29.2), where the line turns southwest, three yard tracks to the north of the extra track on the north side, a wooded area and a bridge over a street.

The line once reduced to single track, and the CTC is supplemented by cab signals, at CP-33 (MP 33.3), past a grade crossing, an MBTA station with two side platforms and a pedestrian bridge, a passenger speed restriction of 55 mph between MP 36.0 and MP 36.8, as the line turns west-southwest, reverting to 60 mph thereafter, an MBTA station  side platforms and a pedestrian bridge at a road bridge overhead, and a dirt road grade crossing.

There are detectors at MP 37.4 (the broadcast says "Track 1"), a road bridge overhead, North Grafton (MP 37.6), where the stub of the Grafton & Upton Railroad heads south (and used to extend quite a bit further), Intermediate Signals at MP 39.5, where the passenger speed limit drops to 50 mph, an embankment, a spur trailing in on the north side, a road bridge overhead, Milbury Junction, where a line once left to the southwest and the main line turns sharply north, MP 42.2, where the passenger speed limit drops to 40 mph and the line starts a big counter-clockwise curve to the south-southwest, the east end of a 26,300 ft. Controlled Siding at CP-43 (MP 43.3), a street alongside to the north, a through-truss road bridge overhead, MP 44.0, where the speed limit drops to 25 mph through Worcester and the Providence & Worcester Gardner Branch once crossed on the flat, the junction with the line north to Ayer, trailing in at CP-44 (MP 44.1), a box labeled "44" on the north side, extra track on the north side,  the passenger station at Worcester (MP 44.3), with two two-sided low-level platforms serving four tracks to the north of the main line, at a lower-level, a platform with umbrella shed to the north, a pedestrian bridge overhead in the platforms, and a brick depot on the north side of the line, in the vee of the junction with the west-facing double-track line heading north (to Ayer), and a junction with the Providence & Worcester line heading away south to Groton, at CP-45 (MP 44.3).
