Bensenville Yard, Chicago

Milwaukee Road built Bensenville yard in 1953, with 21 receiving tracks, a 70-track classification bowl, a fully-automated hump handling more than 3,600 cars a day. The yard passed to Soo Line in 1985, and is now owned by Canadian Pacific.  By 1995, the classification bowl had been reduced to 24 tracks classifying less than 1,000 cars a day, with the remainder of the capacity being replaced by seven TOFC loading and unloading tracks and four COFC loading and unloading tracks.
