Cicero Yard, Chicago

Cicero Yard was built by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (CB&Q), and prior to 1997, had 17 receiving tracks feeding a 42-track classification bowl in its 2.3 miles length, handling 3,000 cars a day. The yard has now been converted completely into an intermodal yard, with carload classification relocated to Northtown, Galesburg, and Eola.
