Eola to Aurora (ex-CB&Q)

There are connectors down to the BNSF main line in the northwest and southwest quadrants of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern's overhead bridge near that line's Eola location, with a signal bridge, crossovers, and signal bridge at Eola (MP 33.4), west end of the eponymous freight yard on both sides of the line (ten tracks on the north side), as well as the location of a Metra station, followed by the twin overhead bridges of North Eola Road, and Intermediate Signals (signal bridge, MP 34.1/2/3/4) along the line passing the yard.

The west end of the yard is followed by the signal bridge, crossovers, and signal bridge at West Eola (MP 35.3), and two grade crossings.  Further west, McClure Road passes below and North Farnsworth Avenue bridges overhead, there is a signal bridge, there are crossovers, the two Metra tracks into the Aurora Transportation Center, from which (from the north end of the ladder tracks) a line departs to the north to West Chicago, depart on the north side of the line, and the Three Main Tracks, CTC, reduce to Two Main Tracks, CTC east of MP 36, after which there are two road bridges overhead (North Ohio Street and Wood Street), and a signal bridge at MP 36.4/.5/.6/.7.

The line turns southwest, with the Transportation Center tracks alongside to the north and then northwest, past a road bridge overhead (High Street) and Intermediate Signals (signal bridge), into Aurora (MP 38.4), the place where the commuter service from Chicago ends, and. the Aurora Transportation Center (a converted old roundhouse) and the adjacent 16 track Metra Yards are off the main line on the northwest side.
