From the junction (northwest and southwest quadrant connectors, for access to Clearing Yard), signal bridge, and flat crossings (four tracks) with the single track north-south Grand Trunk Western at Hayford (MP 11.7), where the line turns east, the two main tracks (on the north side) continue, CBS (again), Yard Limits, maximum speed 25 mph, while the two yard leads (south side) enter the west end of Rockwell Street Yard (MP 12.1), with an extra track (the main yard entrance) splitting off between the two groups, and two extra tracks splitting off on the north side, a bridge carrying S. Kedzie Avenue overhead, the 14 yard tracks between the two pairs of main tracks, and four track on the north side of the main line, with the yard ending and the tracks on the south side reducing to one before a grade crossing with Old Southwest Highway, after which the south side track trails in.
The former Wabash (now the Metra Southwest Line) approaches from teh southwest, and a lead from the NS Landers Yard along the east side of that line trails into the south side of the BRC, between two BRC crossovers at a bridge voer Western Avenue, at Landers (MP 12.9), after which there is a northwest quadrant connector and the flat crossings with the double track B&OCT (CSX Blue island sub.) at Forest Hill (MP 13.4), with a northeast quadrant connector where the former flat crossing with the erstwhile PRR Panhandle line used to be. The two BRC and Two Metra lines bridge over S. Damen Avenue, S. Wood Street, and Ashland Avenue, before blending together with crossovers at Belt Junction (MP 14.7) to form two tracks that bridge over Loomis Street and Ada Street, and then reforming five tracks, with another crossover, now with two Metra tracks on the north side and three BRC tracks on the south side.
There are bridges over Racine Street, Aberdeen Street, Morgan Street, Peoria Street, Halsted Street, and Union Avenue, before the Metra tracks curve to the north and the BRC tracks curve to the south, with a connecting track (the former C&WI) south from Metra's 74th Street interlocking trailing in on the east side as the lines, now heading south, bridge over 76th Street. Adjacent to the end of 78th Street, at Auburn Park, the 10 mph "NS Stack Connection" begins on the east side, there is a crossover, the westerly tracks trails in on the west side, and the three tracks jog east to pass beneath the angled bridge carrying the two Metra Rock Island tracks overhead, as the line bridges 79th Street, after which there is another crossover and the two UP (former C&WI) tracks split off on the south/west side as the lines bridge over 80th Street (MP 15.6).
