Kensington to Blue Island

.Just south of Kensington (MP 14.49) is a flat junction, with the former tower still intact on the east side, where the South Shore line tracks (one from the Metra Electric line, one from the IC main) swing away south-southeast, crossing the IC main line at grade, the line passes beneath a through girder bridge carrying the former Chicago & Western Indiana tracks now owned by UP, and there is a junction and crossovers where the single track of the Blue Island branch  turns due west while the University Park line continues ahead.

The Blue Island branch passes a grade crossing, a street alongside to the south, the station (wood platform on north side) at State Street (MP 15.60), six grade crossings, the station (wood platform on the north side) at Stewart Ridge (MP 16.06), a grade crossing, a closed grade crossing, three grade crossings, a closed grade crossing, the former crossing with the erstwhile PRR Panhandle line, two grade crossings, a siding on the south side, a grade crossing over a divided street, the station (wooden island platform) at West Pullman (MP 16.68), a grade crossing, the siding ends, former extra track on the south side, and the station (wooden platform on the south side) at Racine Avenue (MP 17.04), and then turns southwest past the station (wooden platform on the southeast side) at Ashland Avenue (MP 17.87), a grade crossing over a north-south street, a through girder bridge over an Interstate highway, two grade crossings over north-south streets, a grade crossing through a street intersection, the station (wooden platform on the southeast side) at Burr Oak (MP 18.36), a grade crossing over a north-south street, a grade crossing over east-west and then north-south streets, two grade crossings over east-west streets, a grade crossing over a north-south street, a second track on the southeast side, and two extra tracks on the northwest side, at the end of the line at the station (stub-end asphalt island with depot at southwest end) at Blue Island (MP 18.91), across the street (to the south) from the Metra Rock Island lines to the west.
