McCook to Joliet

From the flat crossing with connectors in all four quadrants with the Indiana Harbor Belt, a former B&OCT line, at BOCT Xing (MP 12.9), with speed limit 50 mph on the crossing, the 2MT, CTC, line with speed limit 79-55, continues southwest past the 6,395 ft. siding at Harbor (MP 14.5), on the north bank of the canal, bridges carrying US 12/20/45 and I-294 over the former GM Yard (MP 16.0) at Hodgkins, whose space is now occupied by the nine tracks of the BNSF-UPS Willow Springs Yard on the northwest side of the line, which trails in at West Reed, Willow Springs (MP 17.0), where the line turns west-southwest following the north bank of the canal, a bridge over Willow Springs Road, detectors at MP 22.9, the spur west to the Johnson & Johnson Plant, on the north track at Argonne (MP 23.0), a curve southwest, the through truss bridge across the canal at Lemont, and a curve back to the west-southwest on the south side of the canal between MP 23.9 and MP 25.4, speed limit 40 mph, a 1,000 ft. spur at Lemont (MP 25.1), and a curve to the south, following the southeast bank of the canal between MP 25.6 and MP 25.9, speed limit 50-45.

There is a yard on the north track at Thomas Steel (MP 26.0), curves between MP 27.4 and MP 28.7, speed limit 60-55, a yard on the south track at Union Oil Company (MP 27.8), a curve between MP 29.1 and MP 29.2, speed limit 65-60, Romeo (MP 29.3), curves between MP 32.6 and MP 32.9, speed limit 65-50, a yard on the south track fro the oil refinery at Lockport (MP 32.7), curves to the south-southwest and back to the south, following the east-south bank of what has become the Illinois River between MP 33.1 and MP 34.6, passenger speed limit 75 mph, a curve just east of south between MP 35.1 and MP 35.6 on the north track, passenger speed limit 70 mph, a curve just east of south between MP 35.3 and MP 35.8 on the south track, speed limit 65-60, curves just west of south between MP 36.1 and MP 36.6 on the south track, speed limit 40 mph, Joliet Yard (MP 36.2), where the EJ&E bridges overhead, curves just west of south between MP 36.3 and MP 36.6 on the north track, speed limit 45-40, and curves just east of south and then south again between MP 36.6 and MP 37.4, speed limit 30-25, to parallel the IC (former GM&O, former Alton) line trailing in on the east side to form a joint line as far as South Joliet, to the Union Station at Joliet (MP 37.5), located in the northwest quadrant of the flat crossing (speed limit 25 mph) with the former Rock Island main line, now owned by Metra.
