Tower A20 to Rondout

The ex-C&NW freight line, heading north east from its Proviso Yard, is used between Bryn Mawr and Shermer by CP (ex-Soo, ex-Milwaukee Road) freight trains coming from their Bensenville Yard, whence a two-track connecting track in the northwest quadrant descends to the ex-Milwaukee Road line, past a grade crossing with an east-west street, trailing in on the west side at Tower A-20 (MP 20.5). The 2MT, CTC, speed limit 70-60-40 ex-Milwaukee Road line continues north-northwest, past crossovers north of the junction, a grade crossing, the Metra station (two side platforms, east side north of the grade crossing, brick depot to the west) at Northbrook (MP 21.1), a grade crossing with a southwest to northeast street, north of the depot, a bridge over a stream, a bridge over an east-west street, a grade crossing with an east-west street, Intermediate Signals at MP 22.1, dual road bridges overhead, the Metra station (two side platforms, brick depot to the west) at Lake-Cook Road, a bridge over an east-west divided road, extra tacks on the east side, an east-west road bridge overhead, a grade crossing with an east-west street, Intermediate Signals at MP 24.x, a bridge over an east-west street, the Metra station (two side platforms, wood depot to the west) at Deerfield (MP 24.2), a grade crossing with an east-west street, signals and crossovers, a grade crossing with an east-west street, a street alongside to the west that curves away, Intermediate Signals, wooded country, two grade crossing with east-west streets, a street on the east side, Intermediate Signals at MP 26.7, a grade crossing with an east-west street, extra track on the west side, the Metra station (two side brick platforms, brick depot to the west) at Lake Forest (MP 28.0), a grade crossing with an east-west street, a bridge over an east-west street, Intermediate Signals at MP 30.3, Intermediate Signals at MP 31.3, and extra track on the west side.

At Rondout (MP 32.3), there is a 7,056 ft. siding on the east side and a 10,132 ft. siding on the west side, a signal bridge, connectors in the southeast and southwest quadrants, the EJ&E crosses at grade, with the tower still standing on the east side, the North Shore once crossed overhead (and the bridge is still there), there is a grade crossing just north of the bridge, a bridge over a stream, and the Fox Lake line turns away to the northwest,  as the main line continues north to Milwaukee.
