From the former Norfolk & Western Clare Yard, and the resumption of single track at Clare (MP 9.0), where there was once a junction at which the original PRR line continued just north of due east, beneath a bridge carrying the Norfolk & Western overhead, and today's line forms a connector between the former PRR and former N&W in the southwest quadrant, turning onto the former N&W heading just east of due south (10 mph on the switch), Automatic Block Signals, Traffic Control, maximum speed 40 mph, past a 10 mph speed restriction on curves between MP 9.0 and MP 9.3, as the line bridges over the Little Miami River, a 35 mph speed restriction between MP 9.3 and MP 10.7, around a curve taking the line due east, past Newtown and through a jog southeast and then back east again, after which the full line speed prevails.
The erstwhile 3ft, gauge Cincinnati Eastern Railway once departed to the south at Richmond Junction, and the line turns north-northeast, past a spur at Senco Product, Inc. (MP 13.4), turning east-northeast and then curvily southeast, with a 35 mph speed restriction between MP 16.4 and MP 29.3, past a detector at "Perintown" (MP 18.0), the 6,898 ft. siding at Ancor (MP 21.0), Baldwin, and the 3,961 ft. siding at Batavia (MP 24.0), where the Olive Branch of the erstwhile Cincinnati, Georgetown & Portsmouth (which never reached the latter) once trailed in from the west, turning southwest and then making a counter-clockwise turn to the east, then turning south, east-southeast, and north-northeast before the curves ease and the line turns east-southeast.
There is a spur at Cincinnati Milacron (MP 30.2), the 5,999 ft. siding at Afton (MP 30.6), where there is a 40-car spur, a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 32.8 to MP 33.6, Williamsburg, MP 35.1, where the maximum speed rises to 45 mph, a spur at Eastwood (MP 37.1), MP 40.2, where the maximum speed reverts to 40 mph, a spur at Kibler Milling Company (MP 42.6), a detector at Mt. Oreb (MP 42.7), the 5,954 ft. siding at Sardinia (MP 47.4), where there is a 40-car spur, the erstwhile Ohio River & Columbus once crossed on the flat, and the line turns southeast, past Macon, northeast past Winchester, east past the 6,016 ft. siding at Mt. Zion (MP 60.5), east-southeast past Seaman, just north of due east and then southeast, with a 30 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 62.2 and MP 62.4, edging around to curvily east, with a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 62.4 to MP 69.0.
The line turns curvily east-northeast, past the 6,099 ft. siding at Lawshe (MP 67.0), making a turn northeast and then sharply southeast, with a 25 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 69.0 and MP 69.2, before turning curvily east again, with a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 69.2 to MP 71.4, and a 30 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 71.4 and MP 71.5, after which the full line speed prevails past the 60-car spur at Peebles (MP 71.9), and then just north of due east, past a detector at "Plum Run" (MP 75.9), southeast, past Mineral Springs and the 5,554 ft. siding at Rarden (MP 82.0), south-southeast past Youngs and Otway, and east with a 35 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 89.1 and MP 89.5.
The line turns south-southeast, past Henley, around a counter-clockwise horseshoe, with a 30 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 91.9 and MP 92.5, to northeast, and then curvily just south of due east, with a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 92.5 to MP 94.1, past the 6,160 ft. siding at Brookside (MP 94.0), southeast with a 30 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 94.1 and MP 94.3, and a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 94.3 to MP 96.1, curvily just south of due east, with a 30 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 96.1 and MP 96.4 and a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 96.4 to MP 99.0, past McDermott (MP 96.8), and then turning just east of due south, with a 30 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 99.0 and MP 99.3, along the east side of the Scioto River, with a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 99.3 to MP 104.4, past Rushton, a spur at Book (MP 103.2), turning south-southeast and bridging across the Scioto River, and then just west of due south, with a 25 mph speed restriction on the curve between MP 104.4 and MP 105.0, to the junction with the NS Columbus District, coming down from just east of due north, at Vera (MP 105.0).
