Rockingham to Rollinsford

From the junction at Rockingham (CPF-256, MP 255.82), where an erstwhile line from Concord once trailed in from the west, and its continuation still does head east-northeast to Portsmouth and the Kittery Navy Yard, the main line continues north-northeast, single track, CTC, speed limit 40 mph (before the passenger speed limit upgrade), turning north past a grade crossing, a road bridge overhead, a grade crossing, the west side siding at Newmarket (MP 253.82), MP 253, a through truss bridge over a river, Intermediate Signals, MP 251, a wooded area, a road bridge overhead, and a bridge over a road, and just east of due north again past a road bridge overhead, the siding and passenger station, with platform and wooden depot to the east, at Durham (MP 249.12), three road bridges overhead, signals, a grade crossing, and the west side siding at Madbury (MP 247.21).

The line gradually turns north-northeast past three road bridges overhead, CPF-245 (MP 244.53), a deck girder bridge over a river, CPF-244 (MP 243.92), an angled grade crossing, a grade crossing, CPF-243 (MP 243.63), where double-track, CTC, replaces the single track, CTC, with a 10 mph speed restriction on Track 2, the passenger station, with platform and wooden depot to the east, at Dover (MP 243.00), where an erstwhile line from Portsmouth once trailed in from the southeast and an erstwhile line to Rochester once left to the northwest, a box on the east side, a through truss bridge over ??, one and then two extra tracks on the east side, a road bridge overhead, the extra tracks trailing back in, a signal bridge, an extra tracks on the east side, and the junction at Rollinsford (CPF-241, MP 241.41), where the line to Rochester and beyond heads away northwest and the main line reduces to single track, CTC, again.
