Rollinsford to Portland

From the junction at Rollinsford (CPF-241, MP 241.41), where the line to Rochester and beyond heads away northwest and the main line reduces to single track, CTC, again, the latter heads northeast, speed limit 40 mph (before the passenger speed upgrade) past the east side siding at Salmon Falls (MP 239.93) a road bridge overhead, a road alongside to the east, a grade crossing, the bridge/viaduct over the river forming the boundary between New Hampshire and Maine, three grade crossings, the west side siding at Cummings (MP 239.49), MP 239, a road bridge overhead, a road alongside to the east, an angled through girder bridge overhead, where an erstwhile line between Kittery Junction and Somersworth, on the Rochester line, once crossed, Cummings, a detector at MP 234.4, an old wooden depot to the east, and a grade crossing, and North Berwick (CPF-233, MP 233.03), where Two Main Tracks, CTC, resume, with a 10 mph speed restriction on Track 2, a line from Kittery Junction once trailed in from the south and an alternate line to Rigby Yard once left to the northeast (i.e. on the west side), as the main line turns just south of due east.

Single track, CTC, begins again at CPF-232 (MP 231.54), past a road bridge overhead, signals, a grade crossing, the south end of 2MT, deep evergreen woods, a turn northeast, the passenger station, with platform and brick depot to the west, at Wells, dual road bridges overhead, Intermediate Signals at 227.x, a road bridge overhead, a spur trailing in on the east side at Wells Beach (MP 226.15), MP 226, two grade crossings, a road bridge overhead, a turn north-northeast, The Elms, the north end of 2MT, MP 222, a bridge over a river and the road on its north bank, a road bridge overhead, an angled grade crossing, a road bridge overhead, a grade crossing, signals, an angled road bridge overhead, the east side siding at Kennebunk (MP 221.04), where an erstwhile branch from Kennebunkport once trailed in from the southeast, a spur heading east to industry, and a spur heading away east.

There is a road bridge overhead, a detector at MP 213.5, the east side siding and extra track on the east side at AR (MP 213.15), aka Arundel, two angle road bridges overhead, the line turns northeast, the west side siding at Biddeford (MP 211.90), a bridge over a road and a deck girder bridge over a river, where the line turns east-northeast, the passenger station, with platform, shelter and brick depot to the east, at Saco (MP 211.45), a grade crossing, a bridge over a river with the ocean just to the east, an embankment bridging over a road and an angled road, a through girder bridge over a road, CPF-211 (MP 210.55), where Two Main Tracks, CTC, resume, with a 10 mph speed restriction on Track 2, a wooded area, CPF-209 (MP 208.71), where single track, CTC, begins again, and two grade crossings.

The line turns northeast, following the Atlantic Coast, where an erstwhile line from Point Ellis once trailed in from the south-southwest, past the passenger station, with platform and shelter to the west, at Old Orchard Beach (MP 207.34), two grade crossings in town, and the east side siding at Pine Point (MP 204.9), with tidal flats to the east, turning north past a bridge over an inlet, just east of due north past the west side siding at Scarboro Beach (MP 202.35), east-northeast past a grade crossing, a tidal flat to the east, CPF-200 (MP 199.97), where two running tracks, CTC, begin, and the erstwhile alternate track once trailed back in on the west side, a grade crossing, crossovers, a rail-served lumber yard to the east, a road bridge overhead, the eight-track yard on the east side at Rigby (MP 199.00), the junction at CPF-199 (MP 198.49), where a line to South Portland turns away east and Two Main Tracks, CTC, resume, with a 30 mph speed restriction to MP 194, a locomotive depot to the east, Tower PT to the east, and an angled road bridge overhead.

There is a bridge over a road as the line heads just east of due north, past CPF-198 (MP 197.10, CPF-197 (MP 196.89) on Track 2 only, CPF-196 (MP 196.72), CPF-195 (MP 196.29), where double track, current-of-traffic (Rule 251), Automatic Block Signals begins, MP 196, a road bridge overhead, a line from the harbor trails in from the southeast as the line turns northwest, east-facing signals, a road bridge overhead, the track curving back towards the north, dual road bridges overhead, and a spur off to the west of the main line, with a second track to its west, and platform and depot to the east for the new passenger station at Portland.
