Campbell Hall to Port Jervis

From the junction with the Hudson Secondary, coming from the south (Hudson Junction and, originally, Phillipsburg), and start of the 6,119 ft. north side siding (50 mph on the siding) at CP Hudson Junction (MP 63.4), a 70 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 63.8 to MP 65.7, a turn west-southwest, the end of the siding at CP Hall (MP 64.7), where there is an east leg of the connector to the Walden Industrial Track (and formerly, the erstwhile line to the Poughkeepsie Bridge), and the line turns west-northwest, the passenger station at Campbell Hall (MP 65.7), and the junction with the Walden Industrial Track, trailing in from the  north, at West Hall (MP 66.5), the Southern Tier line heads west-northwest, single track, Rule 261, Automatic Block Signals, maximum speed 79 mph for passenger trains, 60 mph for intermodal trains, and 50 mph for freight trains.

There is a 70 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 67.7 to MP 68.1, a former flat corsisng with an erstwhile New York, Ontario & Western line, a turn southwest and then west, Red Onion (MP 71.4D), a detector at MP 71.5D, MP 71.6D, where the maximum speed falls to 60/40 mph, and the passenger station at Middletown (MP 71.9D), a turn northwest, a turn west past Four Story Junction (MP 74.0D), where the Crawford Industrial Track departs and the erstwhile NYO&W once bridges overhead, a turn just north of due west, CP Howells (MP 76/6D/68.7), where the Middletown Secondary Track (the remains of the former Erie main line from CP Harriman) trails in, and the mileposts reflect the mileage on that former main line, and a 24,182 ft. north side Controlled Siding (60/40 mph on the siding) starts, and Howells (MP 69.3).

The line turns southwest and then just north of due west, past Otisville (MP 73.8), CP-OV (MP 74.0), where that Controlled Siding ends, and a 40 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 74.3 to MP 75.6, including Otisville Tunnel and curve west of tunnel, where it turns south-southwest, with a 55 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 75.7 to MP 76.1, past East Graham (MP 79.2), Guynard, and a detector at MP 81.2, turning southwest, with a 55 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 83.5 to MP 83.7, a 30 mph speed restriction from MP 83.8 to MP 84.4, past Rundles Curve and Black Rock Curve, and a 50 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 84.7 to MP 84.9, and then northwest, with a 55 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 85.3 to MP 85.9, a 30 mph speed restriction on Wood Pit Curve, MP 86 to MP 86.4, and a 40 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 86.4 to MP 86.8, past CP BC (MP 86.8), where Double Track, current-of-traffic (Rule 251), starts, with a 40 mph passenger speed restriction to MP 89.9, to the passenger station at Port Jervis (MP 87.4), where NJT service ends.
