Harold/Woodside to Jamaica

From the crossovers at Harold (MP 3.7/1.8), where the line from Long Island City trails in on the south side of the line from New York Penn Station, the Amtrak tracks turn north, with Harold Tower on the west side and two bridges carrying the local and then express tracks of the 7 Subway overhead, the third-rail electrified LIRR tracks turn away southeast, past the passenger station at Woodside (MP 3.1), and the junction at Wood (MP 3.2), where the Port Washington Branch departs on the north side, passing beneath a bridge carrying the freight line to Bay Ridge Yard overhead, and turning east-southeast, past Rego Park, where an erstwhile line to Howard Beach and beyond once turned away south, and the passenger station at Forest Hills (MP 6.7), turning south-southeast past the passenger station at Kew Gardens (MP 7.7), east, with the car yard on the south side, past the junction at Jay (MP 9.0), where the car yard tracks, and the lines from Long Island City via Fresh Pond and from Flatbush Avenue, trail in on the south side, and just north of due east, past the major interchange passenger station at Jamaica (MP 9.3), the junction at Hall (MP 9.4), where the line to Locust Manor and Rosedale turns away south, Union Hall Street, and the wye on the south side with the St. Albans line at the LIRR Hillside Shops (MP 11.0), where there is an employee passenger station.
