Montclair to Denville

From the passenger station at Walnut Street, Montclair (MP 12.1), the line turns curvily north-northeast, double track, Rule 261, Automatic Block Signals, maximum speed 60 mph for passenger trains and 40 mph for freight trains, past the passenger station at Watchung Avenue, Montclair (MP 12.9), a 40 mph passenger speed restriction from MP 13.7 to MP 14.0, the passenger station at Upper Montclair (MP 13.8), the passenger station at Mountain Avenue, Montclair (MP 14.3), and the passenger station at Montclair Heights (MP 14.9), and north-northwest, with a 35 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 15.9 to MP 16.3, past the passenger station at Great Notch (MP 16.5), where an erstwhile line once turned southwest to Rosedale, and the line reduces to single track, Rule 261, ABS.

There is a turn to the west, with a 45 mph passenger speed restriction on the curve at Cedar Grove, from MP 17.3 to MP 17.6, a 30 mph speed restriction over the Peckman River Bridge, from MP 17.6 to MP 17.7, and a 45 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 17.7 to MP 17.8, past MP 17.8, where the maximum speed becomes 60/40 mph, a turn west-northwest, past the passenger station at Little Falls (MP 18.7), and north-northwest, past the passenger station at Singac (MP 19.2), a bridge over the Passaic River, and a 30/25 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 21.3 to MP 21.8, past the passenger station at Mountain View (MP 21.6), a turn west-northwest at the junction where the former New York and Greenwood Lake (which is truncated just to the north) crosses the former Lackawanna Main Line (which is truncated just to the east), past MP 21.8, where the maximum speed becomes 70/40 mph.

The line turns just north of due west, to bridge over a river, northwest past the 5,450 ft. siding (15/10 mph on the siding) and passenger station at Lincoln Park (MP 22.9), just north of due west and then west-southwest, past the passenger station at Towaco (MP 25.1) and MP 25.6, where the maximum speed becomes 60/40 mph, northwest, with a 50 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 25.6 to MP 26.1, southwest, with a 55 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 26.8 to MP 27.3 and a 55 mph passenger speed restriction, from MP 28.7 to MP 28.9, past the passenger station at Boonton (MP 29.2), a 50 mph passenger speed restriction on the curve from MP 29.2 to MP 29.8, and the passenger station at Mountain Lakes (MP 31.2), and west, with a 55 mph speed restriction, from MP 33.0 to MP 33.4, to the junction (MP 34.0) with the electrified double track Morristown line, coming from the south, and passenger station at Denville (MP 34.3), where the Morristown Line continues west.
