16th Street Junction to Conshohocken

From the crossovers and junction at 16th Street Junction (MP 3.5), where the former Reading line northwest to Norristown splits away from the main line on the west side, the double track, CTC, Norristown Line with overhead AC electrification, turns northwest, past extra track on the west side, the parallel Chestnut Hill West line at a higher level on the north/east side, a bridge over a street, the passenger station with two low-level side platforms at Allegheny/22nd Street (MP 4.0), a bridge over a street at the west end of the station, extra track on the north/east side, a derelict factory on the south/west side, a road bridge overhead, and a bridge over a street, west-northwest past a bridge over a once-electrified? double track line (the Conrail, ex-Reading/B&O, freight line?), a road bridge overhead, a bridge over an "Interstate", a street alongside to the north, an arch support above, the passenger station at East Falls (MP 5.5), with two low-level side platforms and a 'portable' depot to the south, a bridge over a street, a road bridge overhead, and an arch support above.

The line curves gently back to the northwest past small two-storey row houses, a street alongside to the north, above the wall, crossovers at Drive (MP 6.2), a bridge over a road and river below, extra track on the south side, the passenger station at Wissahickon (MP 6.4), with two low-level side platforms with umbrella sheds, a footbridge overhead, a street alongside to the north, a road bridge overhead at the west end of the station, an arch support overhead (the original electrification  supports?), and three bridges over streets, passing beneath the graceful curving concrete viaduct carrying the former PRR line to Manayunk (and, once, Norristown), to the passenger station at Manayunk [East] (MP 7.5), with two low-level side platforms and a depot to the north, a bridge over a street, signals, two bridges over streets, and a formerly rail-served factory to the south.

The line continues northwest, along the east bank of the Schuylkill River, past a bridge over a footpath or stream, the passenger station at Ivy Ridge (MP 8.2), with two low-level side platforms, on a ledge above the east/north bank of the Schuylkill River, a grade crossing just west of the station, signals, curves back and forth, a grade crossing, a derelict freight shed to the south, the [closed?] passenger station at Shawmont (MP 9.4), with two low-level side platforms, a grade crossing, a bridge over drainage, a street alongside to the south, a grade crossing, signals at River (MP 10.6), extra track on the north side, the passenger station at Miquon (MP 10.7), with two low-level side platforms and a brick depot to the north, a street alongside to the north, extra track on the north side, and signals.

There is a curve to the west, following the river bank, past a bridge over a stream in the woods, a bridge over a stream, a grade crossing at the east end of the passenger station at Spring Mill (MP 12.3), with two low-level side platforms, catenary supports for two additional tracks on the north side (the former PRR line?), now a bike path, a grade crossing, signals, a street alongside to the south, and a curve north-northwest, following the river bank, extra track on both sides, catenary supports above space for two more tracks on the north side, four grade crossings, signals, and a road bridge overhead, to the passenger station at Conshohocken (MP 13.5), with two low-level side platforms and a 'portable' depot to the south, where the erstwhile Conrail (former Reading) line to Oreland, on the Lansdale/Doylestown Line, once turned away north-northeast (of which there is, in 2008, no sign either here or at Oreland).
