North Philadelphia to Chestnut Hill West

From the junction at North Philadelphia (MP 0.0), where the former PRR SEPTA Chestnut Hill branch departs on the north side of the Amtrak main line, and the station immediately thereafter, which has a south side platform, an island platform on the south side of the main lines, an island high-level platform on the north side of the main lines, and two curving side high-level platforms on the Chestnut Hill branch, all with umbrella sheds, the latter continues, double track, CTC, with AC overhead electrification, turning north-northwest past a bridge over an east-west street at the north end of the platforms, a through girder bridge over the former Reading tracks (again), two former Reading tracks running below to the west (the Norristown Line), a bridge over a street at a very acute angle, a bridge over an angled street, extra track on the west side, a bridge over a street, a derelict factory to the west (with a rail spur), the former passenger station at Westmoreland (MP 0.8), bridging over a Conrail freight line, and curving north past [the location of] crossovers at Midvale (MP 1.8), a bridge over a street, a road bridge overhead, MP 2, and a road bridge overhead.

There is a passenger station at Queen Lane (MP 2.2),  with two low-level side platforms in a cutting, three road bridges overhead, the passenger station at Chelten Avenue (MP 2.8),  with two high-level side platforms in a cutting, with depot at street level on the north side and a road bridge overhead, where it turns northwest, two bridges over streets, a street bridge overhead, the passenger station at Tulpehocken (MP 3.3), with two low-level side platforms in the woods and depots to the east and west, where it turns north again, a bridge over a river in the woods, a road bridge overhead, the passenger station at Upsal (MP 3.8),  with two low-level side platforms and wooden depots to the east and west, a bridge over a street at the north end of the station, a bridge over a street, crossovers at Clive (MP 4.1), two bridges over streets, and the passenger station at Carpenter [Lane] (MP 4.4), with two low-level side platforms and brick depot to the west.

An erstwhile line to Fort Washington once left on the east side at the passenger station at Allen Lane (MP 4.8), with two low-level side platforms in a cutting, where the line turns north-northwest, past a road bridge overhead north of the platforms, woods, the [location of] crossovers at Cresheim (MP 5.2), in a leafy suburb, a bridge over a river, a bridge over a street, the passenger station at St. Martins (MP 5.6), with two low-level side platforms and brick depot to the west, where the line turns northwest, a road bridge overhead, a footbridge overhead, a bridge over a road, the passenger station at Highland (MP 6.6), with two low-level side platforms and a road bridge overhead in the station, where it heads west-northwest before turning north-northeast, and the signal bridge and crossovers at Chestnut Hill West (MP 6.6), where there is a tower just before the stub-end passenger station at  Chestnut Hill West Station (MP 6.7), with two high-level side platforms and a brick depot on the east side, located at a lower level than the street which runs past the stub end.
