Clinton/Dover to Monroe

From the junction with the CN&L sub., trailing in from the west, on the north side, at Clinton Connection (MP 397.0), where teh line turns east-southeast, past an east-facing north-side spur at Clinton Storage (MP 396.3) and a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 394.0 to MP 390.6, to the junction with the CN&L sub., heading away south-southeast to Columbia, on the south side, at Dover Connection (MP 394.9), the line turns curvily east-northeast, single track, CTC, ABS, maximum speed 45 mph (but the aforesaid 40 mph local restriction), past the 9,950 ft. north-side siding, from South Shands (MP 393.2) to North Shands (MP 391.2), Renno, a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 384.6 to MP 380.4, a 25 mph speed restriction, from MP 380.4 to MP 379.4, an east-facing north-side spur at Whitmire Storage (MP 380.1, a detector at "Whitmire" (MP 379.9), a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 379.4 to MP 357.5, the 9,950 ft. south-side siding, from South Delta (MP 377.3), past a wast-facing south-side spur, to North Delta (MP 375.3), a bridge carrying a former Southern line overhead, an east-facing, north-side spur at Carlisle (MP 368.1), an east-facing south-side spur at Cone Mills (MP 366.7), Pride, where an erstwhile shortline once headed north, and a bridge over a river.

There is a detector at "Leeds" (MP 363.9), Clariant (MP 363.8), the 9,950 ft. south-side siding, from South Leeds (MP 363.8), past a west-facing south-side spur, to North Leeds (MP 361.5), a 35 mph speed restriction, from MP 357.5 to MP 357.3, after which the full line speed prevails, Sandy River, a west-facing south-side spur at Chester Storage (MP 357.1), a 35 mph speed restriction, through Chester,  from MP 351.3 to MP 350.3, Chester (MP 351.1), a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 350.3 to MP 349.6), the flat crossing with southeast quadrant connector with the NS and Lancaster & Chester at Chester Crossing (MP 350.2), where the erstwhile Carolina & Northwestern once headed north (one the west side of the NS line), MP 349.6, where the maximum speed rises to 50 mph, the 9,847 ft. south-side siding, from South Landrum (MP 349.5) to North Landrum (MP 347.5), a west-facing south-side spur at Willamette (MP 346.4), the junction with the Lancaster & Chester, heading away on the south side at L&C Connection (MP 346.3), a spur on the south side at East Chester Wood (MP 345.1), and a detector at "Rodman" (MP 343.8).

The line passes Rodman, Hicklin, Edgemoor, where an erstwhile shortline once headed south, and east-facing south-side spurs at Harmony Steel (MP 333.6), where it turns just north of due east, past a detector at "Harmony" (MP 333.3), the 10,499 ft. south-side siding, from South Catawba (MP 332.8), past an east-facing north-side spur at Rebar (MP 331.4), to North Catawba (MP 330.6), where there is a flat crossing with a former Southern line, a west-facing south-side spur and two-track south-side yard at Bowater Yard (MP 330.4), a 30 mph speed restriction, from MP 328.3 to MP 327.5, a signal at Catawba Holdout (MP 328.2), a bridge over a river at Bridge (MP 327.5), with a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 327.5 to MP 317.1, where the full line speed prevails, and east-facing spurs on both sides at Boral Brick (MP 326.4), north, past Van Wyke, northeast past a detector at "Van Wyke" (MP 322.7), east past the border ebtween South Carolina and North Carolina and the 9,850 ft. south-side siding, from South Waxhaw (MP 320.4) to North Waxhaw (MP 318.4), and just north of due east, past Mineral Springs, a 30 mph speed restriction, from MP 306.3 to MP 306.1, the east-facing north-side spur at Tank Siding (MP 306.3), and the junction with the Charlotte sub., trailing in on the north side, at South Monroe (MP 306.2), where the north-side RC lead and the north-side Monroe Yard start.
