From the wye with the Lakeland sub. on the south side, where an SAL main line used to arrive from the north and make a flat crossing (MP 840.9), as the Miami line heads south-southeast, the Lakeland sub. continues west, from Auburndale, single track, CTC, overall speed limit 79 mph for passenger trains, 70 mph for intermodal trains and 60 mph for freight trains, but local speed restriction of 50 mph through Auburndale (MP 841.0 to MP 841.3), past the McDonald Connector (west leg of the wye) on the south side, a detector at MP 843.3, the 4,929 ft. north side siding at Carters (MP 845.3), a passenger speed restriction of 75 mph between MP 845.8 and MP 846.0, the west-facing spur trailing in from the Lakeland McIntosh Power Plant to the north, at Park (MP 847.3), passenger speed restriction of 70 mph between MP 849.6 and MP 849.7, a speed restriction of 45 mph between MP 850.6 and MP 851.1, through Lakeland, the road crossing at Iowa Avenue (MP 850.6), the road crossing at Dakota Avenue (MP 851.1), and the Bartow sub. trailing in from the south.
A stretch of double track, CTC, starts at MP 851.7, where the Vitis sub. joins from the north at a wye, past the passenger station at Lakeland (MP 851.8), a wye on the south side where the Bone Valley sub. heads away south, MP 854.9, where single track, CTC, resumes, the 6,060 ft. south side siding at Winston (MP 855.4), Youmans, a speed restriction of 60 mph between MP 860.0 and MP 861.0, through Plant City, a speed restriction of 45 mph between MP 861.0 and MP 861.8, through Plant City a flat crossing at MP 861.1, where the former SAL Yeoman sub. crosses and turns west on the south side, and the former SAL Plant City sub. heads south at a wye on the south side of the Yeoman sub., a speed restriction of 60 mph between MP 861.8 and MP 862.6, through Plant City, the 7,577 ft. north side siding at Plant City (MP 862.9), Cherry, a detector at MP 864.9, the 4,837 ft. north side siding at Dover (MP 867.8), a passenger speed restriction of 70 mph between MP 870.6 and MP 871.9, Seffner, a speed restriction of 65 mph for passenger trains and 50 mph for freights between MP 871.9 and MP 873.5, the 4,850 ft. north side siding at Mango (MP 873.2), Reeves, and a bridge over a river.
There is a speed restriction of 45 mph between MP 876.8 and MP 881.3, through Tampa, Orient, east end of the yard, Ucela Yard (MP 878.0), on the south side, a wye on the south side, at the west end of the yard, connecting to the ex-ACL Palmetto sub. to Venice, the wye on the north side with the ex-ACL Neve Spur at GY (MP 879.8), TN (MP 880.3), where Yard Limits start and there is a flat crossing with the former SAL Clearwater sub. heading north-south, a speed restriction of 25 mph between MP 881.3 and MP 881.7, as the line turns south-southwest at Ybor City, and Tampa (MP 882.0), where the former SAL (Yeoman sub.) once trailed in from the east, Union Station is directly southwest, and the east-facing ex-ACL Port Tampa Spur heads west, across the Hillsborough River Drawbridge (MP 882.9), to Port Tampa (MP 892.0) on a promontory protruding into Tampa Bay.
