Springfield to River Junction

From Springfield Yard (MP 238.7) on the St. Louis line, where a spur from Willard (And the erstwhile Frisco Shops) trails in from the west-northwest (at JA Junction), the line is Two Main Tracks, Yard Limits, speed restriction 20 mph, heading east past a spur from the Frisco passenger station trailing in from the south at Broad Street Junction, North Yard on the north side of the line, the erstwhile Firsco Car Shop on the north side, to 43 Track (MP 237.2), where the 11.9 mile spur south to Kissick turns away on the south side, and then Two Main Tracks, CTC, speed restriction 20 mph on Main 1 and 40 mph on Main 2, past  Eastern Junction, where the erstwhile eastward connector from the Frisco passenger station once trailed in on the south side, crossovers (20 mph speed restriction on the turnouts) at MP 235.3, to Teed (MP 235.1/203.2), where the Cuba sub. continues east while the Thayer sub. heads south (20 mph speed restriction on the turnout), single track, CTC, speed limit 55 mph (but local speed restriction 35 mph), past industrial spurs curving away on either side.

The line turns east at WS Junction (MP 206.2), where the passenger line from the Frisco passenger station once trailed in from the west-northwest, south at MP 206.7, where the speed restriction rises to 40 mph, east, just east of due south, east-northeast, east past Turner, curvily south-southeast past Palmetto to the 10,266 ft. siding on the south side at Rogersville (MP 219.0), where it turns east, with the speed restriction ending at MP 219.1 in favor of the 55 mph speed limit, northeast, east past a north-facing spur at Fordland (MP 226.5), a detector at MP 228.3, and east-northeast with a 50 mph speed restriction from MP 228.6 to MP 231.4, after which full line speeds prevail, just south of due east past the 8,844 ft. south side siding at Diggins (MP 231.5), southeast past a north-facing spur at Seymour (MP 236.7), south, east, southeast past a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 243.0 to MP 245.8 and the 8,653 ft. north side siding at Cedar Gap (MP 243.2), and very curvily east through the Ozarks, past a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 245.8 to MP 251.5.

There is a dragging equipment detector at MP 248.2, Mansfield (MP 249.6), where the erstwhile Ozark Southern Railway once headed south, a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 251.5 to MP 254.0, a dragging equipment detector at MP 252.2, a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 254.0 to MP 260.0, after which full line speeds prevail, Locke, a detector at MP 255.2, the 8,000 ft. north side siding at Norwood (MP 260.2), a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 266.8 to MP 281.3, after which full line speeds prevail, the 9,405 ft. south side siding at Mountain (MP 269.5), Dunn, a detector at MP 273.6 , and the 8,380 ft. north side siding at Cabool (MP 279.1), where the line turns northeast and then very sharply (and very curvily just east of due south, past Sargent, a dragging equipment detector at MP 286.4, a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 286.8 to MP 288.0, a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 288.0 to MP 291.7, Sterling, where it turns curvily south-southeast, a 50 mph speed restriction from MP 291.7 to MP 295.2, and the 7,437 ft. east side siding at Willow (MP 293.3).

The line turns just west of due south where an erstwhile branch once headed east, with a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 295.2 to MP 299.4, curvily just east of due south at Burnham, where an erstwhile shortline to Contz once headed southwest, with a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 299.4 to MP 299.9 and a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 299.9 to MP 325.9, past a dragging equipment detector at MP 300.3, a detector at MP 303.5, Pomona, the 9,046 ft. north side siding at Olden (MP 306.1), and the 8,699 ft. south side siding at West Plains (MP 314.4), where it turns southeast, Chapin, where it turns just south of due east, a dragging equipment detector at MP 322.1, where it turns just west of due south, curving southeast past a detector at MP 325.3, turning just west of due south with a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 326.2 to MP 336.6, past Brandsville and a north-facing spur at Garnett (MP 334.6), southeast, east, and just east of due south past the 8,723 ft. south side siding at Kosh (Koshkonong, MP 330.8).

There is a 35 mph speed restriction for unit loaded grain trains from MP 331.0 to MP 336.6 as the line turns southeast, east, and southeast, and a 35 mph speed restriction for all trains from MP 336.6 to MP 339.4 as the line turns sharply just north of due east, even more sharply back to just west of due south, southeast, and south past the 8,786 ft. east side siding at Thayer (MP 339.8), where the speed limit rises to 60 mph, but with a local 20 mph speed restriction from MP 339.4 to MP 340.0 and a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 340.0 to MP 358.8, crossing the state line from Missouri into Arkansas and continuing curvily south past a north-facing spur at Mammoth Springs (MP 342.3), a detector at MP 344.9, the 7,742 ft. north side siding at King (MP 350.3), and a double-ended spur at Hardy (MP 358.3), turning southeast with a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 358.8 to MP 364.6 past the 7,485 ft. south side siding at Baker (MP 363.0), south with a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 364.6 to MP 365.4, southeast and then just north of due east, with a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 365.4 to MP 372.2, past Williford and a detector at MP 368.4.

The line turns curvily east-southeast, with a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 372.2 to MP 374.4 and a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 374.4 to MP 385.8, past a dual-ended spur at Ravenden (MP 375.2) and the 8,574 ft. south side siding at Imboden (MP 380.7), turning curvily just east of due south past a dual-ended spur at Sloan (MP 383.7), southeast past a north-facing spur at Valley Stone (MP 384.5) and Hogan, and south with a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 385.8 to MP 391.0, after which full line speeds prevail, past a dual-ended spur at Black Rock (MP 389.9), and, finally out of the Ozarks, east-southeast past a north-facing spur at Portia (MP 392.1) to the 8,706 ft. north side siding,  4.4 mile spur from Walport trailing in on the north side, and flat crossing (30 mph on the crossing) with the UP (former MoPac main line), with south quadrant connector, at Hoxie (MP 398.0).

There is a detector at MP 401.0, as the line heads southeast, past the 7,015 ft. south side siding at Sedgwick (MP 406.1), south-southeast past B&SW Junction, where an erstwhile branch once headed south-southwest, and a south-facing spur at Bono (MP 412.1), turning east and then south with a 50 mph speed restriction from MP 413.1 to MP 414.5, after which full line speeds prevail as the line turns just south of due east at Marsh, past a 20 mph head-end speed restriction from MP 419.2 to MP 420.6 and a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 419.7 to MP 419.9, after which full line speeds prevail, the 10,528 ft. north side siding at Jonesboro (MP 420.0), where the line turns southeast past a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 422.2 to MP 423.8 over the flat crossing with the former Cotton Belt main line at SSW (MP 422.2) and the flat crossing with the UP (former MoPac Helena Crossing line) at UP (MP 423.8), after which full line speeds prevail, a south-facing spur at Nettleton (MP 423.8).

The line continues southeast, past a detector at MP 427.1, a 45 mph head-end speed restriction from MP 430.2 to MP 431.3, the 5,857 ft. south side siding at Bay (MP 430.7), and Herman, turning south-southeast past a southward Intermediate Signal at MP 436.1, a bridge at MP 436.3, a north-facing spur at Trumann (MP 436.6), where an erstwhile Cotton Belt line once crossed on the flat, a 45 mph head-end speed restriction from MP 436.6 to MP 436.7, the 9,050 ft. south side siding at Roe (MP 439.9), Oak Donnick, a 45 mph head-end speed restriction from MP 447.0 to MP 448.0, a dual-ended spur at Marked Tree (MP 447.4), where the line turns southeast, a detector at MP 447.9, Tyronza Junction, where an erstwhile line from St. Louis once trailed in from the north, Tyronza (MP 449.6), a turn south-southeast, Deckerville, where an erstwhile line from Blytheville once trailed in from the north, Gilmore, the 8,598 ft. east side siding at Madlock (MP 462.2), and the junction with the River Line from St. Louis, trailing in on the north side at River Junction (MP 462.6).
