Donkey Creek/Gillette to Huntley

Donkey Creek Junction is the south apex of the wye on the south side of the former CB&Q Billings/Lincoln line, with west apex at West Donkey Creek Junction (MP 587.1) and east apex at East Donkey Creek Junction (MP 586.4), from which the line heads west, Two Main Tracks, CTC, speed limit 35 mph, past the detectors, crossovers and wye on the north side at East Campbell (MP 587.6), junction with the spur north-northwest to the coal loading loops at the Wyodak Clovis Point Mine, the Kennecot Fort Union Mine, the Western Fuels/Phillips Coal Dry Fork Mine, the Cyprus/Amax Eagle Butte Mine, the Peabody Coal Rawhide Mine, and the Zeigler Buckskin Mine, the west leg of the wye at West Campbell (MP 588.2), where the speed limit has risen to 60 mph, MP 589.9, where the 2MT reduce to single track, still CTC, Minturn (MP 590.0), East Wyodak (MP 591.3), at the Wyodak Mine, West Wyodak (MP 591.7), a detector at MP 591.9, East Gillette (MP 594.5), where 2MT resume, the yard at Gillette (MP 597.2), where the speed limit has dropped to 30 mph, crossovers at Crossover 597.2 (MP 597.2), detectors at MP 597.9, and West Gillette (MP 599.9), where the line reduces to single track again, still CTC, and the speed limit rises to 45 mph on the curvy stretch of line to the west.

There is a detector at MP 602.4, a turn curvily to the northwest, the 8,976 ft. siding at Oriva (MP 606.4), Felix, the 12,690 ft. siding at Echeta (MP 621.4), where the speed limit has risen to 60 mph, a detector at Croton ( MP 627.3), the 13,217 ft. siding at Lariat (MP 631.2), a turn west, west-northwest, north-northeast past a spur at Arvada (MP 640.9), where the speed limit is 45 mph, west-northwest, northeast, curvily north-northwest, curvily west past the 12,672 ft. siding at Kendrick (MP 648.0), where the speed limit is 40 mph, and a detector at Big Crow (MP 654.), where the speed limit is back to 60 mph, turning west-southwest, south-southwest past the 11,168 ft. siding at Clearmont (MP 660.5), where the erstwhile Wyoming Railway once left on the south side of the line, just north of due west, and just west of due north past the 12,734 ft. siding at Ulm (MP 671.8), where the speed limit is 40 mph for the curve.

The line turns curvily northwest, past Verona (MP 679.8), where the speed limit has risen to 50 mph, a detector at MP 681.9, the 12,556 ft. siding at East Dutch (MP 686.5), Arno (MP 687.4), Dutch (MP 688.0), the end of the siding at Dutch Center (MP 689.1), where the line turns west and the east leg of the wye with the spur north to the coal loading loops at the Kennecott East Decker Mine, the Kiewit Decker Mine and the Kennecott Spring Creek Mine heads away on the north side, the junction with the west leg of that wye, trailing in on the north side at West Dutch (MP 690.4), a spur at Wakeley (MP 693.6), where the line turns southwest, south, west, and then north past the 7,179 ft. siding at Sheridan (MP 698.6), where the speed limit is 25 mph and there is a spur west to Fort MacKenzie, just west of due north to Dietz, where there was once a spur on the east side to Acme, just east of due north and then west past Kiewit (MP 706.3), where the speed limit has risen to 45 mph and there was once a spur north to the Big Horn Mine, Kleenburn (MP 707.9), and Monarch.

There is a detector at MP 710.5, where the speed limit has risen to 60 mph again, Kool, the 14,176 ft. siding at Ranchester (MP 714.9), where the line turns west-northwest, and then west, north-northwest to the 6,834 ft. siding at Parkman (MP 724.1), north past the border between Wyoming and Montana, north-northwest and then north-northeast to the 7,109 ft. siding at Aberdeen (MP 731.0), just west of due north past a detector at MP 736.3, north past a spur at Wyola (MP 737.2), Spear, the 7,425 ft. siding at Lodge Grass (MP 750.2), a detector at MP 757.9, where the speed limit has fallen to 50 mph, the 7,343 ft. siding at Benteen (MP 760.1), just west of due north past Garryowen, Crow Agency (MP 770.1), the 7,031 ft. siding at Dunmore (MP 775.0), where it turns north-northwest, and a spur at Reno (MP 780.1), southwest past a bridge over the Big Horn River, Big Horn Wye, where an erstwhile line from the Big Horn Mine once trailed in from the north, Hardin (MP 783.7), and a detector at MP 785.9.

The line turns curvily west-northwest, past the 7,250 ft. siding at Rowley (MP 792.7), and Toluca, where an erstwhile CB&Q line south to Warren and the Wind River Canyon line once left on the south side, turning north-northwest past Corinth, a detector at MP 807.5, and the 8,115 ft. siding at Anita (MP 813.9), where the speed limit has returned to 60 mph, turning curvily west to Ballantine (MP 820.0) and then just south of due west past a detector at MP 822.9, the junction with the connector north to Jones Junction, on the former Northern Pacific, at Moran Junction (MP 825.1), and the junction with the Montana Rail Link (former NP) line to the west, on the north side, at Huntley (MP 829.3), where the speed limit is 35 mph.
