Huntley to Glendive

From the 10,697 ft. siding at Huntley (MP 213.1), where the former CB&Q line to Gillette, WY, and Alliance, NE, departs on the south side, a spur at Coors (MP 211.5), and Jones Junction (MP 208.9), where MRL ownership ends, a connector from the former CB&Q trails in on the south side, the former NP continues east-northeast along the valley of the Yellowstone River (just north of the track at this point), single track, Track Warrant Control, Automatic Block Signals, speed limit 60 mph, past Knox, Worden (MP 204.5), a detector at MP 200.2, Newton, Nibbe, the 9,590 ft. siding and shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevator at Pompey's Pillar (MP 194.2), Bull Mountain (MP 189.0), the 6,032 ft. siding at Waco (MP 180.8), Fee, a detector at MP 177.9, the 7,180 ft. siding at Custer (MP 172.3), a bridge over the Big Horn River, and Big Horn (MP 166.6), turning north (following the south bank of the Yellowstone River), just north of due east past Myers (MP 156.5), and east northeast past a detector at MP 153.2 to the 6,707 ft. siding at Hysham (MP 151.2), where CTC replaces to TWC, ABS.

The line turns east, still following the river, past the junction with the line from the coal-loading loop at the Kuen-Westmoreland Absaloka Mine, trailing in in the south side at Sarpy Junction (MP 146.6), and Sanders, a jog east-northeast and then back to just south of due east, a detector at MP 140.9, the 10,853 ft. siding at Finch (MP 138.5), and Maudru Spur, curvily east past the 6,135 ft. siding at Nichols (MP 130.2), the west leg of the wye on the south side with the Colstrip subdivision south to the coal-loading loops at the Western Energy Rosebud Mines, the erstwhile Cow Creek Mine, and the Peabody Big Sky Mine, at West Nichols Wye (MP 129.8), and the east leg of that wye at East Nichols Wye (MP 129.4), turning east-northeast past the yard at Forsyth (MP 123.8), where there is a 25 mph speed restriction and TWC, ABS, returns, and a detector at MP 120.0, where the speed limit has become 50 mph and the former right-of-way of the erstwhile Milwaukee Road Pacific Extension now lies just across the river, east, north-northeast, east past Flynn (MP 116.4), southeast, and then east, all following a bend in the river, to the 6,450 ft. siding at Rosebud (MP 111.3).

There is a turn to the east-northeast, a turn just south of due east past Joppa (MP 104.9), a turn east-northeast past the 6,930 ft. siding at Hathaway (MP 98.7), where the speed limit has risen to 60 mph again, a turn northeast past Clermont and a detector at MP 95.9, a turn curvily east-northeast past the 6,301 ft. siding at Horton (MP 90.4), where the speed limit is 50 mph, a turn curvily east, and a turn northeast, all following the river, past the 7,155 ft. siding at Ulmer (MP 84.1), where the speed limit is back to 60 mph, Fort Koegh, a bridge over the Tongue River, Miles City (MP 78.6), where there is a 30 mph speed restriction, a detector at MP 74.9, where the speed limit is back to 60 mph and the erstwhile Milwaukee Road r-o-w is now alongside to the north, Murn, the 7,245 ft. siding at Tusler (MP 69.8), where the Milwaukee Road r-o-w leaves, a turns east-northeast and then north-northeast, still following the Yellowstone River, the 6,960 ft. siding at Shirley (MP 59.9), a detector at MP 54.8, Benz, the 6,720 ft. siding at Blatchford (MP 49.3), and Kamm.

The line turns east, still following the river, past the 7,574 ft. siding and junction with the former Milwaukee Road (now BNSF Hettinger subdivision) at Terry (MP 39.2), and an erstwhile bridge that once carried the Milwaukee line overhead, turning east-northeast past a detector at MP 34.1 and  the former Milwaukee turning away on the south side, just north of due east past the 6,265 ft. siding at Fallon (MP 29.6), east-northeast past Conlin, the 6,854 ft. siding at Marsh (MP 19.4), and Hoyt, north, still following the river, past a detector at MP 10.4, where the speed limit is 45 mph, the 6,180 ft. siding at Colgate (MP 7.2), where the speed limit is back to 60 mph and north-northeast, past a wye on the west side for the junction with the Sidney Line subdivision, north to Snowden, MT, and  the yard and shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevator at Glendive (MP 0.0), in Yard Limits.
