Union Junction to ConPit

The Mon Line tracks trail in from the southwest and come alongside at Union Junction, right beneath the magnificent arch of the Westinghouse Avenue concrete road bridge, headed northeast, double track, with speed limit 35 mph, past a road bridge overhead, East Pittsburgh, turning east where the Mon Line tracks connect in on the south side and the speed limit rises to 70-35 except for 45-35 on the curve, past crossovers at CP Wing (MP 339.7), southeast past a road bridge overhead, detectors at Wilmerding (MP 339.1), where the speed limit rises to 70-60-45-40, except for lower speeds on curves, east-southeast past a wooden road bridge overhead, a road bridge overhead, an Intermodal yard on the south side, and a bridge over a stream to Pitcairn (MP 337.9), where there is a yard on the south side, south past the crossovers at CP Traff (Trafford, MP 336.5), where a short line heads east to Export and the speed limit rises to 70-60-40, except for lower speeds on curves, a road bridge overhead, Intermediate Signals at MP 334.x, a bridge over a street, detectors at MP 332.8, Intermediate Signals at MP 332.6, a bridge over a street, Intermediate Signals at MP 331.x, south-southeast past Larimer and Irwin, east-southeast at the former Youghiogheny Branch Junction, past a bridge over a road, a bridge over a stream, and a street alongside to the south, east at Shafton, southeast at Biddle, past Manor, east at Penn, and east-northeast to Jeannette (MP 326.3), then southeast past Grapeville to crossovers at CP Rade (MP 325.0), where a branch heads south, east past Intermediate Signals at MP 324.x, extra track to the south, dual road bridges overhead, a road alongside to the north, a spur on the south side trailing in, the station with two side platforms with umbrella sheds and a depot with a clock tower on the south side and at a lower level at Greensburg (MP 322.1), a road bridge overhead at the east end of the station, a street alongside to the south, a road bridge overhead, a bridge over a road, a road bridge overhead, Southwest Junction, where another branch from the south trails in, detectors at "Greensburg" (MP 320.8), a turn east-southeast past Crows Nest Mine, Intermediate Signals at MP 318.x, and Donohue, northeast past Intermediate Signals at MP 316.x, a road bridge overhead, Intermediate Signals at MP 314.x, crossovers at CP Trobe (MP 312.7), a bridge over a river and a road, where the line is elevated, and Latrobe (MP 312.3), where the depot is on the north side at a lower level, there are umbrella sheds on the south platform and a center through track, and a bridge over a road below at the east end of the station, east-southeast, past a bridge over a road below with an "interstate" just to the west, a road bridge overhead, Intermediate Signals at MP 310.x, a grade crossing, a road bridge overhead, and Intermediate Signals at MP 307.4, and then northeast past Derry, Intermediate Signals and detectors at Hillside (MP 304.4), a grade crossing, Graff Mines, Intermediate Signals at MP 302.x, crossovers at CP Pack (MP 300.5) and south-southeast along the Conemaugh River valley, past Torrance (MP 299.9), where a connector once trailed in from the northwest, southeast past a slide fence on the south side, Intermediate Signals at MP 298.2 (Position Lights in 2008), MP 296.4 and MP 294.6, the latter co-located with detectors at Bolivar (MP 294.6), east, past a bridge over a river, south, and east again, following the south bank of the river, past Intermediate Signals (MP 292.x) and across the river on a deck girder bridge, to the crossovers at CP ConPit (MP 290.6), where the Conemaugh Line, which trails in from the north, joins in.
