Pine Junction to Deshler

From Pine Junction (MP 498.1), where the B&OCT trails into both the ex-B&O, with crossovers, and Yard Limits end after the junction is traversed, the double track, CTC, ex-B&O, with freight speed limit 60 mph (and 35 mph on the turnouts to Track 2, on the south side, wherever single track changes to double track and vice-versa, from East Gary to Albion) heads east-southeast, with the ex-NYC line alongside to the north, past a bridge carrying the EJ&E overhead, crossovers at Curtis Yard (MP 246.4), where the yard shared with the EJ&E is on the south side of the line, a turn to just south of due east, East Gary (MP 243.7), where double track ends and single track, CTC, starts, the Indiana Harbor Belt once bridged overhead, and the line edges due east, and a detector at Miller (MP 242.2).

The South Shore Line bridges overhead, and the line turns east-southeast again, past Willow Creek (MP 236.9), where there is a flat crossing with Conrail, with speed limit 40 mph on the crossing, and an erstwhile Wabash line also once crossed on the flat, McCool (MP 234.8), where double track resumes and an erstwhile EJ&E line once crossed on the flat, Babcock, Woodville, turns south-southwest, past Suman (MP 226.7), where single track starts again, and then just south of due east past Coburg, the 1,100 ft. north side siding at Alida (MP 220.9), where the Monon's Michigan City line once crossed on the flat, a detector at MP 218.0, Webster (MP 217.5), where double track resumes, the 2,475 ft. south side siding at Wellsboro (MP 213.8), a flat crossing with the CSX (former C&EI) Wabash subdivision, with speed limit 40 mph on the crossing and connectors in the southwest and southeast quadrants, and an almost collocated flat crossing with the GTW's Chicago main line, with speed limit 40 mph on the crossing.

Single track begins again at Tracy (MP 208.4), past Quinns, Walkerton (MP 199.1), where there is a flat crossing with the former Lake Erie & Western (now NS) and was once a flat crossing with the erstwhile NYC line to Peoria, and double track resumes, detectors at Teegarden (MP 193.6), Garden (MP 191.9), where single track starts again, Lapaz (MP 189.8), where there was once a flat crossing with the PRR branch to South Bend, Bremen (MP 183.0), where double track resumes, Bremen Station (MP 181.5), West Nappanee (MP 175.4), where single track starts again, Nappanee (MP 173.9), where there is a passenger station, a detector at Gravelton (MP 168.8), and a former flat crossing with an erstwhile Winona Railroad line, next to a flat crossing with Conrail (former Big Four), with a southeast quadrant connector, adjacent to the 6,300 ft. north side siding at Milford Junction (MP 165.7), where double track resumes.

The line continues almost due east, past Syracuse (MP 160.6), Wawasee (MP 157.8), where single track starts again, a detector at Cromwell (MP 152.7), and the 1,800 ft. north side siding at Kimmell (MP 148.7), where double track resumes, and starts to curve back and forth a bit, past Albion Station (MP 143.5), and Albion (MP 142.6), where single track starts again, and diverts to the south of its former course through Avilla, past a detector at Ripley (MP 136.5), a location where the Grand Rapids & Indiana railway once bridged overhead, East Avilla (MP 132.1), where the line regains its original course and double track resumes (45 mph on the turnout to Track 1, on the north side), West Garrett (MP 129.7), where there is a crossover and Yard Limits start, Garrett (MP 128.0), where there is a yard,  crossover, with speed limit 20 mph between MP 128.2 and MP 127.4 on Track 1, 15 mph between MP 128.2 and MP 127.9 on Track 2, and 20 mph between MP 127.9 and MP 127.4 on Track 2, and East Garrett (MP 126.1), where Yard Limits end

Single track starts again at Auburn (MP 125.0), where there were once flat crossing with Wabash and Lake Shore & Michigan Southern lines, and the line heads curvily just south of due east past a road crossing at 7th Street, a detector at Concord (MP 118.0), a flat crossing with NS (former Wabash) at St. Joe (MP 116.6), Indo (MP 113.8), where double track resumes, with speed limit 35 mph on the turnout to/from Track 2, the Indiana-Ohio State Line, Hicksville (MP 107.9), Rosedale, Mark Centre (MP 101.3), a speed limit of 35 mph between MP 97.4 and MP 97.0, Sherwood (MP 96.4), where there was once a flat crossing with an erstwhile Big Four line and single track starts again, a road crossing at Harrison Street, The Bend, a through truss bridge over the Maumee River at MP 94.9, and a detector at Bend (MP 93.9), as the line turns east-southeast and then east.

There is a speed limit of 35 mph from MP 89.4 to MP 85.3, for a flat crossing with NS (former Wabash) at FC Tower (MP 87.9), where double track resumes, and Defiance (MP 87.4), where the Lima & Defiance once left to the south and there is a  road crossing at SR 18, before the line turns just south of due east again, past West Standley (MP 82.1), Standley (MP 80.0), where single track starts again, a detector at MP 77.9, Holgate (MP 74.6), where there was once a flat crossing with the erstwhile Clover Leaf, a flat crossing with the DT&I (currently part of GTW) at Hamler (MP 69.4), East Hamler (MP 67.3), where CTC ends and double track resumes (ABS, Rule D-251 current-of-traffic), and the flat crossing with the CSX (ex B&O) Toledo subdivision at Deshler (MP 62.5), where there are connectors in all but the southeast quadrant, with speed limit 35 mph approaching the flat crossing and 10 mph on the connectors.
