Palmer Lake to South Denver (Northbound)

At the Palmer Lake summit (MP 52.0, 2000 feet up from Denver, 7,237 feet above sea level), there is a spur and Double Track, the speed limit is 45 mph, and TWC, ABS starts again. Track 2, the former Santa Fe line, set up for northbound travel, heads downhill and northeast, past Spruce, a detector at MP 48.5, a detector at MP 46.8, and Greenland (MP 46.6), where it turns just west of due north and the tracks separate, past a detector at MP 44.6, northwest where the tracks are briefly back together again (and the original independent tracks crossed one another) before separating once more, with Track 2 now ex-Rio Grande, and then just east of due north past Larkspur (MP 42.9) and a detector at MP 42.4, just west of due north past a detector at MP 40.2, just east of due north past Galde, a detector at MP 37.6, a detector at MP 35.0, Douglas, where a quarry spur once trailed in from the east-southeast, a detector at MP 33.0, a spur from the southeast at Castle Rock (MP 32.5), where the line turns just west of due north, a detector at MP 31.6, and Plateau.

The line turns northwest, past a detector at MP 29.4, just north of due west past a detector at MP 26.8, Track 1 coming close on the west side again, and a 5,000 ft. siding and a crossover trailing in from the west at Sedalia (MP 24.5), where the original independent tracks crossed again, and turning just west of due north, now ex-Santa Fe again, past a detector at MP 21.9, Gann, a crossover trailing in from the west at Big Lift (MP 18.8), where the erstwhile eponymous Santa Fe intermodal facility is on the west side, and Acequia, turning just east of due north past Blakeland, Santa Fe Park (MP 12.5), crossovers at Littleton (MP 12.2), where Three Main Tracks, CTC, replace the DT, TWC, ABS, crossovers at Englewood (MP 8.0), and additional track at Iowa Spur (MP 5.5), turning just west of due north past crossovers at South Denver (MP 4.5), where the right-of-way of the erstwhile original Colorado & Southern line once trailed in from the southeast, the 3MT drop to 2MT, CTC, the speed limit drops to 30 mph, and the Burnham Industrial Lead separates from those 2MT on the east side.
