Palmer Lake to South Denver (Southbound)

At the Palmer Lake summit (MP 52.0, 2000 feet up from Denver, 7,237 feet above sea level), there is a spur and double track, the speed limit is 30 mph, and TWC, ABS starts again. Track 1, the former Santa Fe line, set up for southbound travel, heading northeast, passes a detector at MP 50.5, as the line descends towards Denver, Spruce (MP 48.8), where the speed limit is 35 mph, a detector at MP 46.4, Greenland, where it turns north-northwest, a turn just east of due north, Larkspur, a turn just west of due north, a turn north, Tomah (MP 37.5), where the speed limit is 30 mph, Castle Rock (MP 32.5), where it turns just west of due north, a wye on the west side with a spur to Santa Fe Quarry, and a turn northwest to the 8,200 ft. siding at Orsa (MP 27.4), where the speed limit is 40 mph, followed by a turn north-northwest and a turn west.

Former ownership of Track 1 changes from Santa Fe to Rio Grande where the tracks once crossed at Sedalia (MP 24.5), where there is a detector and crossover to Track 2, and the line turns north, past a detector at MP 22.9, a detector at MP 21.3, where the speed limit has risen to 45 mph, a detector at MP 21.1, a spur trailing in on the west side at Louviers (MP 20.7), a spur heading away at DuPont (MP 20.6), a crossover to Track 2, and a detector at Big Lift (MP 19.3), former site of a Santa Fe intermodal yard, a turn north-northwest, a detector at MP 17.5, Acequia (MP 17.0), a turn just east of due north, a detector at MP 15.9, a spur at Blakeland (MP 15.3), Wolhurst, a detector at MP 14.3, a detector at MP 12.3, and crossovers and the start of Three Main Tracks, CTC, at Littleton (MP 12.2).

A spur from Fort Logan once trailed in on the west side at Fort Logan Spur (MP 9.1), aka Military Junction, and the line continues just east of due north past crossovers at Englewood (MP 8.0), where the speed limit is still 45 mph, and Denver Lumber (MP 5.3), curving gently to just west of due north at crossovers at South Denver (MP 4.5), where the 3MT drop to 2MT, CTC, the speed limit drops to 30 mph, and the Burnham Industrial Lead separates from those 2MT on the east side.
