Cleveland to Knoxville

All of the former Southern Railway GRS tri-color signals were replaced in 2012 all the way from Cleveland to Bearden.

From  the wye junction with another leg of the Atlanta line, on the east side, and start of a 7,328 ft. east-side siding, at Bradley (MP 213.5), with a 30 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 213.0 to MP 212.8 and a 50 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 212.8 to MP 209.1, past the yard Cleveland (MP 212.7) and the end of the siding  at Lyle (MP 211.7), the line turns east, single track, Automatic Block Signals, Track Warrant Control (TWC), maximum speed 60 mph for intermodal and 50 mph for other freight trains, with a local 50 mph speed restriction on curves to MP 209.1, turning north-northeast, past a detector at "Tasso" (MP 209.8), a 45 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 209.1 to MP 208.8, a 55-50 speed restriction on curves, from MP 208.8 to MP 205.0, the 7,341 ft. west-side siding at Tasso (MP 208.1 to MP 206.7), and a 50 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 205.0 to MP 199.0, after which full line speeds prevail.

There is a 45 mph speed restriction over street crossings, from MP 202.0 to MP 200.5, as the line passes through Charleston (MP 200.9), and then passes a bridge over the Hiwasee River, a bridge over a CSX spur to a Bowaters Mill on that river, Calhoun, a detector at "Calhoun" (MP 198.4), the 7,720 ft. east-side siding at Sanford (MP 197.1, past MP 195.6 to MP 195.5), a dragging equipment detector at "Sanford" (MP 195.4), Riceville, Coile (MP 189.3), and a detector at "Coile" (MP 188.2), turning east-northeast, with a 35 mph speed restriction over street crossings, from MP 187.4 to MP 184.4, through Athens, northwest, with a 40 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 186.7 to MP 186.1, and then north, with a 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 186.1 to MP 185.6, past Athens (MP 185.9), wehre a CSX (former L&N) branch heads east.

The line turns north-northeast again, with a 50 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 185.6 to MP 185.1, and a 50/45 speed restriction on curves, from MP 185.1 to MP 184.6, past the 7,307 ft. west-side siding at Hutsell (MP 185.0 to MP 183.7), a 50 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 184.6 to MP 182.0, a 55-50 speed restriction on curves from MP 182.0 to MP 171.2, a 45 mph speed restriction over street crossings, from MP 181.0 to MP 179.3, through Niota (MP 179.8), a detector at "Niota" (MP 179.2), and Reagan, turning east-northeast and then curvily north-northeast again, past the 10,400 ft. west-side siding at Sweetwater Siding (MP MP 174.1, past MP 172.2 to MP 172.1), a 30 mph speed restriction over street crossings, from MP 172.3 to MP 171.3, through Sweetwater (MP 172.0), a 45 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 171.1 to MP 170.2, a 55-50 speed restriction on curves, from MP 170.2 to MP 160.0, a detector at "Sweetwater" (MP 169.2), Philadelphia (MP 165.5), and the 6,994 ft. west-side siding at Craig (MP 162.7 to MP 161.3).

There is a 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 160.0 to MP 158.8, past Loudon (MP 159.6), a bridge over an industrial spur to the south bank of the Tennessee River, that spur trailing in on the north side, a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 159.3 to MP 159.0, over the Tennessee River bridge, a 40 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 158.8 to MP 155.7, as the line turns northeast around the north side of a bend on the river, the Bear Bend Lead (15 mph on the lead, MP 158.6), the other end of a wye with that lead at MP 158.1, a 55-50 speed restriction on curves, from MP 155.7 to MP 142.7, a detector at "Lenoir City" (MP 154.8), a 30 mph speed restriction over street crossings, from MP 154.5 to MP 153.6, through Lenoir City, the 3,885 ft. west-side siding at Lenoir City (MP 154.0), Martel, the 10,930 ft. east-side siding at Boyd (MP 148.6 to MP 146.5), a detector at "Concord" (MP 145.1), Concord, a 45 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 142.7 to MP 141.0, a 55-50 speed restriction on curves, from MP 141.1 to MP 137.0, the 2,000 ft. west-side siding (10 mph on the siding) at Ebenezer (MP 139.3), a detector at "Bearden" (MP 138.9), a 50 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 137.0 to MP 132.6, a 30 mph speed restriction over street crossings from MP 136.7 to MP 125.0, and the 7,714 ft. west-side siding at Bearden (MP 135.4).

Entering Knoxville, there is a 55-50 speed restriction on curves, from MP 132.6 to MP 131.5, a bridge over a joint NS/CSX line below, the flat crossing (25 mph on the crossing) and west, north and east quadrant connectors, with the CSX (former L&N) Cincinnati to Atlanta line, at Willoughby (MP 132.3), the start of Yard Limits at MP 132.2, the west end (25 mph on the turnout) of Two Tracks, current-of-traffic (Rule 251), at MP 132.1, a 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 131.5 to MP 130.4, the angled flat crossing and junction (with a connector trailing in on the north side) with the K&A  (Knoxville & Atlanta) at K&A Junction (MP 131.1), and the location of the erstwhile Southern Station at Knoxville (MP 130.7).
