Harriman Junction to Knoxville

From the crossover at Harriman Junction (MP 258.2/51.3, 25 mph on the crossover), where there are cantilever signal bridges on both tracks, north of the crossover, north of the junction where the double track main line to Chattanooga continues south, with the Emory River alongside to the west, the single track line to Knoxville turns away east (20 mph on the turnout), Automatic Block Signals, Traffic Control (CTC), maximum speed 50 mph, but 25 mph speed restriction on curves to MP 50.5, and 20 mph (engine only) over street crossings from MP 51.2 to MP 49.6, turning south past a 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 50.5 to MP 48.6, and the grade crossing (25 mph) at Devonia Street (MP 50.2), to Harriman (MP 49.6), where the line from Emory Gap trails in on the south side and the line turns east, north, with a 40 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 48.6 to MP 44.9, where an erstwhile L&N line once left to the east, north-northeast, past a detector at "Truett" (MP 45.4), and east, past DeArmond, where the erstwhile Harriman & Northeastern and the erstwhile 3ft gauge Waldens Ridge railroad once left to the north.

The line turns northeast, with a 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 44.9 to MP 43.2, past Elverton, a 40 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 43.2 to MP36.2, past Blair (MP 41.4), where a spur to a power plant on the Clinch River heads south and a 9,364 ft. north-side siding (20 mph on the siding) starts, extending to Scandlyn (MP 39.5), where the line edges north-northeast, turning east with a 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 36.2 to MP 35.7, at the junction with the CSX (former L&N), which heads south at Oliver (MP 36.1), where an erstwhile Southern spur once trailed in from the north and an erstwhile L&N spur once crossed, with the NS line then passing a spur at Oliver Springs (MP 35.5), a 35 mph speed restriction over street crossings in Poplar, from MP 35.5 to MP 35.3, turning east-northeast, with a 40-35 speed restriction on curves, from MP 35.7 to MP 27.8, past a detector at "Poplar" (MP 32.3), south, past Marlow, and then east, with a 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 27.8 to MP 21.1, past a spur at Dossett (MP 27.1) and a bridge carrying the L&N Corbin and Knoxville line overhead, turning curvily east-northeast.

There is an 8,700 ft. north-side siding (20 mph on the siding) from Laurel (MP 25.3) to Mullen Ridge (MP 23.4), a turn curvily east, past a detector at "Jamigan" (MP 22.9), a 25 mph speed restriction over street crossings in Clinton, from MP 21.8 to MP 20.9, a 15 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 21.1 to MP 20.8, for the junction at Clinton (MP 20.9) with the line coming south from Jellico, where the main line turns south, with a 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 20.8 to MP 11.3, past the 5,800 ft. south-side siding, from Clinch (MP 20.7), where there is a bridge over the Clinch River,  to East Siding (MP 19.4), turning east for the climb up the mountain, past a spur at Peak (MP 17.5) and a detector at "Chestnut Ridge" (MP 15.3), turning curvily south for the descent past Heiskell (MP 13.4), a 30-25 speed restriction on curves, from MP 11.3 to MP 10.8, southeast with a 20 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 10.8 to MP 10.1, and east, witha 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 10.1 to MP 8.2, to the 5,233 ft. south-side siding, from Powell (MP 8.2) to Bradford (MP 7.2), with a 40 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 8.2 to MP 7.3.

The line turns southeast, with a 45-40 speed restriction on curves, from MP 7.3 to MP 4.8 and a 35 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 4.8 to MP 2.8, past Black Oak (MP 4.6), turning just east of due south, past a detector at "Inskip" (MP 3.8), a spur at Enco Steel (MP 3.8), a 30 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 2.8 to MP 2.6, and a spur at AJ Metler (Old Sears Wholesale, MP 2.4), to the junction at Coster (MP 2.3/7.9), where a line to West Knoxville heads away on the west side, there is a yard, and a wye junction on the east side with the line to Sevier Yard.

Yard Limits, double track, current-of-traffic, maximum speed 25 mph (but 15 mph on the southbound track)start at Coster (MP 2.3), as the line into Knoxville continues just east of due south, past the South End of Two Tracks (MP 0.5), where the maximum speed drops to 10 mph, to the angled flat crossing with the K&A  (Knoxville & Atlanta) at K&A Junction (MP 0.0/131.1), and the connector on the east side to the east leg of the wye (5 mph on the wye) with the Chattanooga line at the location of the erstwhile Southern Station at Knoxville (MP 130.7).

The line to Sevier Yard heads east-northeast, with a 25 mph speed restriction on curves, from the turnout at Coster to MP 7.2, past a spur at Eagle Beer Distributor (MP 7.3), a 20 mph (engine only) speed restriction on street crossings, from MP 7.2 to MP 6.0, a 30 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 7.2 to MP 4.1, a spur at Kelso Oil Track (MP 6.7), a spur at TVA Track, Beverly (MP 4.1), the wye junction on the north side with the Cumberland gap line ehading northeast, and the start of double track (25 mph on the turnout), at Beverly (MP 3.6), with a 30-25 speed restriction on curves, from MP 3.8 to MP 1.9 as the line turns south-southeast, a 40 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 1.9 to MP 0.6, and a 20 mph speed restriction on curves, from MP 0.6 to MP 0.0, as the line turns east to the West End of Sevier Yard (MP 0.0/125.0), where single track starts and the maximum speed drops to 20 mph, and the line from Coster trails in on the north side of the line from Knoxville, and a spur to a cement plant leaves on the south side, and then past Sevier Yard (MP 123.0), on the north side of the line.
