Neff Yard, Kansas City

The former MoPac Neff Yard, built in the 1950s, had both eastbound and westbound humps, but the westbound half of the yard (which once had eleven arrival tacks, 30 classification tracks, and eleven departure tracks) is now dedicated to intermodal traffic, although ten tracks are still used by unit trains. Today's remaining hump yard has eighteen arrival tracks, 40 classification tracks, and twelve departure tracks, classifying 1,500 cars a day. Including the unit trains, the yard handles 5,000 cars a day.
