Eldon to Ainsworth

From the yard at Eldon Yard (MP 296.6), and Eldon (MP 290.7), where connection is made with a Rock Island line between Des Moines and Keokuk that crosses here, the line continues east-northeast, single track, CTC, maximum speed 40 mph, past County Line, turns just south of due east and then northeast, the 6,068 ft. siding and 984 ft. spur at Libertyville (MP 280.2), where an erstwhile Burlington line once crossed on the flat, the 3,000 ft. spur at Fairfield (MP 275.1), the oblique flat crossing with the BN Omaha to Burlington line at BN Crossing (MP 274.8), where the line turns north-northeast, the 6,051 ft. siding at Otero (MP 272.5), Perlee, the 500 ft. west side spur at East Pleasant Plain (MP 253.7), and the 6,065 ft. siding and 2,036 ft. spur at Brighton (MP 261.4), where erstwhile Burlington and Minneapolis & St. Louis lines one crossed on the flat, and a line to Washington continues north-northeast.

The main line turns northeast, past South Washington, the flat crossing with the BN at BN Crossing (MP 245.4), and the 6,170 ft. siding and 150 ft. spur at Kay (MP 244.7), to the junction with the Rock Island line from Knoxville, IA, trailing in from just north of due west, on the north side, at the 750 ft. spur at Ainsworth (MP 240.9), where the main line turns curvily east.
