Herington to McFarland

The former Rock Island line from Tucumcari trails in from the southwest, the former Rock Island line from Fort Worth trails in from the south, and the remaining stub of the former MP line from Pueblo (which once made a flat crossing here) trails in from the west at the south end of the yard at Herington (MP 171.4), where the speed limit is 30 mph in yard limits, ABS, and the single track line heads north, past the yard, turning just north of due east where the Rock Island line to Abilene once continued north, and passing CP 170 (MP 170.0), where Two Main Tracks, CTC, start and the speed limit rises to 40 mph, CP 169 (MP 168.6), where the speed limit rises to 50 mph and the line turns east-northeast, East Herington (MP 166.5), where the 2MT reduce to single track, CTC, Latimer (MP 163.8), where the speed limit has risen to 60 mph, and a detector at MP 162.5.

The line turns northeast, past the 19,843 ft. siding at White City (MP 158.0), where there was once a crossing with an erstwhile MKT line, and turns just north of due east past a detector at MP 152.0, a detector at MP 149.8, AND Dwight (MP 147.7), where Two Main Tracks, CTC, start, northeast past Alta Vista (MP 141.8), north, east, northeast past Volland (MP 133.8), where the 2MT reduce to one and the speed limit is 40 mph, a detector at MP 129.9, where the speed limit has risen to 60 mph again, and Alma (MP 126.3), where there was once a crossing with the erstwhile Santa Fe line to Manhattan, and east-northeast past a detector at MP 124.5 to McFarland, where the erstwhile Rock Island line from Colorado Springs once trailed in from the northwest.
