Newton to Meridian

From the start of Yard Limits and a 20 mph speed restriction at West Newton (MP 32.0), the flat crossing with a former Gulf, Mobile & Northern line now run by KCS, and the 2,350 ft. siding, and connector north to that line at Newton (MP 31.7), the line continues east, single track, Direct Traffic Control, unsignaled (and thus maximum speed 49 mph), past the end of Yard Limits and the 20 mph speed restriction at East Newton (MP 30.0), Urbo, the 8,952 ft. siding (20 mph on the switches MP 22.4 - MP 20.8) at Hickory (MP 21.6), with the 685 ft. east-facing Hickory Team Track (MP 22.7) and the 585 ft. west-facing Hickory Spur (MP 22.2), a 25 mph speed restriction on the bridge between MP 17.2 and MP 16.7, and the 658 ft. east-facing Team Track at Chunky (MP 17.0).

There is a turn southeast, a 25 mph speed restriction on the bridge between MP 13.9 and MP 13.8, where the line turns north-northeast, the 4,942 ft. siding (MP 12.5 - MP 11.6) at Meehan (MP 11.8), with the 3,012 ft. east-facing spur at Meehan Wood Yard (MP 12.5), a turn east-northeast, past Graham, a 35 mph speed restriction on the curves between MP 9.0 and MP 3.0, as the line turns southeast, through a short tunnel, to Lost Gap, where it turns north-northeast, and then south-southeast before turning just north of due east to the start of Yard Limits and a 20 mph speed restriction at West Meridian (MP 3.0), where there is a wye on the south side with the Norfolk Southern line coming north from New Orleans, and connector over to the the Meridian Southern, the NS Yard on the south side, the KCS yard on the south side, the Meridian Southern trailing in on the south side, and the passenger station at Meridian (MP 0.0), where the depot is on the north side, with three platforms and umbrella sheds serving three tracks. There are private cars (or a museum) in a spur on the north side at the east end of the station.
