Sheffield to Decatur

From the junction with the east leg of the wye (20 mph on the wye) from the NS NA Line at Wilson (MP 402.8), and the yard at Sheffield Yard (MP 401.0), the line heads curvily just south of due east, single track, Track Warrant Control, Automatic Block Signals, maximum speed 60 mph for intermodal trains and 50 mph for other freights, past a 30 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 401.0 to MP 399.9, the junction with the spur north to Occidental Chemical and Emco on the riverbank, at Emco Junction (MP 399.5), a 50/45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 398.3 to MP 398.1, a 55/50 mph speed restriction on curves from MP  397.6 to MP 396.7, Leighton (MP 395.9), a detector at MP 393.2, a 50 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 391.9 to MP 391.7, a 55/50 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 390.0 to MP 389.9, a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 389.6 to MP 389.4, Town Creek (MP 388.6), a 55/50 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 386.9 to MP 386.7, a 50/45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 386.4 to MP 386.2, a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 386.2 to MP 385.9, a 50/45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 385.8 to MP 385.6, and a detector at MP 385.0.

There is a 55/50 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 384.1 to MP 383.8, a 50 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 383.8 to MP 383.5, and a 55/50 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 383.3 to MP 382.9 , Courtland (MP 382.9), a yard on the south side for Champion Paper at Robertson Junction (MP 381.6), where there was once a spur north to the Champion Paper Robertson Mill on the riverbank, Wheeler (MP 379.4), Hillsboro, a detector at MP 372.0, a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 368.8 to MP 368.4 as the line turns east-southeast, a 50 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 368.1 to MP 367.7, as the line turns northeast, a spur for Union Camp Corporation (MP 366.6), a 45 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 366.5 to MP 365.0 as the line turns east and then northeast, a spur for Solutio, Inc. (MP 364.8), and a spur from Amoco Chemicals and the Decatur Docks, on the riverbank, trailing in from the north.

The line turns east, with a 45/40 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 364.5 to MP 364.3, past the 7,804 ft. north side siding at Decatur Siding (MP 364.2), where a spur heads north to the riverbank, a turn just south of due east, with a 20 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 363.9 to MP 363.1, past the 9,607 ft. south side siding and junction with the west leg of a wye to the former Louisville & Nashville line to Birmingham, at Decatur (MP 363.3), where Traffic Control (CTC) starts, a 20 mph speed restriction on curves from MP 363.3 to MP 362., as the line turns northeast, past the junction with the east leg of the wye with the former L&N Birmingham line at River Junction (MP 363.0), the signaled drawbridge over the Tennessee River (MP 362.6), and the junction with the former L&N line to Nashville, at Decatur Junction (MP 362.1), where TWC, ABS, resumes and the line heads east-northeast.
