Wauhatchie to Chattanooga

From the junction between the joint CSX/NS track, coming from Stevenson, AL, and the NS (former Alabama Great Southern) line on its south/east side, at Wauhatchie (MP 248.1/5.3), the CSX track separates on the west side and the NS track on the east side heads north-northwest, Two Main Tracks, Remote Control (CTC), maximum speed 50 mph on Track 1 and 25 mph on Track 2, past detectors at MP 248.1, a bridge over the CSX line, a turn east-southeast, with a 35 mph speed restriction on Track 1, from MP 3.9 to MP 3.2, South Tunnel (MP 3.2), where the line reduces to single track, maximum speed 25 mph, and bridges over the CSX line again to pass through the Lookout Mountain Tunnel to North Tunnel (MP 2.1), where 2MT resume, and then crossing Cummings Highway and another street.

The line turns northeast, crossing W 37th Street and Alton Park Boulevard, and bridges over two separate lines, the former Tennessee, Alabama & Georgia (later Southern, now Chattanooga & Chickamauga), and the former Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis (now CSX), just southeast of the 33rd Street flat crossing between those lines, turning north-northeast past the former Belt Railway trailing in on the west side, Shipps Yard on the east side, the dual I-24 bridges overhead, a bridge over Chattanooga Creek, crossovers at Chattanooga (MP 0.0/338.5), where the former Alabama Great Southern ends, and the former CNO&TP begins (with a five-track yard behind a fence on the west side), and  23rd Street (MP 243.1/338.2), where the eponymous street passes below, there is a signal bridge, and the two CSX tracks coming from the southwest (i.e., on the west side) cross the NS tracks on the flat to move to the east side of all NS tracks, which continue north-northwest another three miles to DeButts Yard.
