Kalamazoo to Battle Creek

From Kalamazoo (MP 143.4), where the speed limit is 30 mph, there is a passenger station with a brick depot on the south side of the line, there is a flat crossing with a former PRR line, a second flat crossing, with a former Lake Shore & Michigan Southern line at BO Tower (MP 143.1), with a connector in the southeast quadrant, a former flat crossing with a GTW line at Harris (MP 142.9), a turn east southeast, View (MP 142.6), and West Botsford (MP 142.5), where speeds rise to passenger speeds 60 mph and freight speeds 50 mph, and remnants of the once large freight yard still existing on the south side at Botsford yard (MP 142.0), where there is a 4,550 ft. siding, the double track, ABS, Rule 251, starts, eastward on the south track (Track 2) and westward on the north track (Track 1), turns east, past Thorn (MP 141.2), and MP 141.0, where passenger speeds rise to 65 mph.

Single track starts at CP Comstock (MP 139.9), where passenger speeds fall to 60 mph, continuing east past MP 139.0, where passenger speeds rise to 79 mph, Galesburg, where it turns northeast, MP 130.5, where passenger speeds fall to 65 mph as the line turns east-northeast, past Augusta (MP 129.9), detectors at MP 128.8, MP 127.3, where a line used to trail in on the north side, the line turns east-northeast, and passenger speeds rise to 70 mph, a turn east-southeast, CP Custer (MP 124.4), where double track resumes and passenger speeds fall to 60 mph, MP 123.7, where freight speeds fall to 40 mph, MP 121.7, where the speed limit falls to 20 mph, Clark (MP 122.7), west end of the yard on the south side at Rumley (MP 122.0), and a former wye on the north side of the line where the Michigan Central line used to run through town.

At the junction at Gord (MP 121.4/175.5), the line trails into the double track Grand Trunk Western line coming from the west and speeds rise to 40 mph as the line turns southeast past a former Michigan Central line turning away on the south side,  Depot (MP 175.8), where the Battle Creek passenger station is located, with the depot on the north side of the line, Rose (MP 175.9), where  a former Michigan Central line once trailed in on the south side, after which the line turns east past Battle Creek (MP 176.6) to Baron (MP 176.7), where the double track former Michigan Central continues ahead east while the double track GTW line turns away east-northeast, with speed limit 30 mph on the south track (only).
