McKenzie to Nashville

From McKenzie (MP 263.2//116.7), where there was once a flat crossing with south and west quadrant connectors with an L&N line between Memphis and Guthrie, but is now just a junction, with both connectors remaining, where the main line turns from the former NC&StL from Memphis, with a stub of the former NC&StL line trailing in from the northwest, the Carroll Block becomes the Hico Block and the speed restriction rises to 25 mph to MP 115.5 as the line heads south, single track, Direct Traffic Control, unsignaled, maximum speed 60 mph but with the aforesaid local restriction, past the 15-car north-facing spur at Hico (MP 112.0), southeast, south, sharply east-northeast, past a 35 mph speed restriction, through Huntingdon, from MP 106.0 to MP 105.7, a 25 mph speed restriction, from MP 105.7 to MP 103.6, the end of the Hico Block and the start of the Huntingdon Block at MP 105.0, a detector at "Huntingdon" (MP 103.8), a 35 mph speed restriction, through Huntingdon, from MP 103.6 to MP 102.1, and Rosser, turning east, past Hollow Rock, where an erstwhile line once trailed in from the south, the yard on the north side at Bruceton (MP 94.5), where a former NC&StL branch now operated by the Kentucky and Western Tennessee turns away north, the end of the Huntingdon Block and start of the Benton Block at MP 93.8, a turn east-southeast and then just north of due east, and the siding on the north side at Lipe (MP 90.7), end of the Benton Block, where the maximum speed rises to 50 mph and the line becomes CTC, Automatic Block Signals.

There is a west-facing spur on the south side at Linimin Sand Spur (MP 90.4), the east-facing spur on the south side at Camden Casting (MP 87.7), the 4,370 ft. south-side siding, from South Camden (MP 86.4) to North Camden (MP 85.5), with a west-facing south-side spur at B&J Spur, near the east end, and the line turns east-southeast, past a detector at MP 84.2, east past the Tennessee River Drawbridge (25 mph on the bridge) at MP 80.5, a spur on the north side to the TVA Johnsonville Steam Plant, and the 9,075 ft. north side siding, from South New Johnsonville (MP 80.2), past the six-track New Johnsonville Yard on the north side, and the west-facing DuPont Lead, on the east yard lead, to North New Johnsonville (MP 78.3), where a spur on the south side trails in from the southwest, turning north, east past Denver, northeast past the east-facing south-side Foote Mineral Lead (MP 77.5), the dragging equipment detector at "Conalco" (MP 75.3), the junction with a spur from Conalco, trailing in on the north side, at Conalco Junction (MP 73.6), and Purseley.

The line turns east, past a detector at Waverly (MP 64.4), northeast, past the 8,030 ft. north-sid siding, from South Gorman (MP 62.8), past the east-facing north-side spur at Vulcan Materials, to North Gorman (MP 61.1), southeast, just north of due east, past McEwen (MP 57.0), curvily east, past the 6,600 ft. south-side siding, from South Tennessee City (MP 50.1), past a west-facing south-side spur, to North Tennessee City (MP 48.6), to Pond, where an erstwhile L&N line once trailed in from the north and the line turns southeast, past a detector at "Dickson" (MP 43.0) and east-facing north-side spurs, and west-facing south-side spurs at Dickson (MP 41.1), just south of due east, past the 4,840 ft. south-side siding, from South Colesburg (MP 39.8), past a dual-ended spur and wye junction with the South Central Tennessee Central Railroad, with extra tracks on the south side, to North Colesburg (MP 38.8).

A turn south-southeast and then just north of due east, is followed by Burns, a turn northeast, past the 8,965 ft. south-side siding, from South Crow (MP 34.7) to North Crow (MP 32.8), curvily east, past White Bluff (MP 30.1), Craggie Hope, a 35 mph speed restriction, from MP 26.8 to MP 26.7, the west-facing south-side spur at Kingston Springs Spur (MP 24.0), a detector at "Kingston Springs" (MP 23.5), a turn northeast and then curvily south-southeast, the east-facing north-side spur at Pegram House Track (MP 19.7), a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 19.1 to MP 18.3, a signal at Pegram Holdout (MP 17.9), a 35 mph speed restriction, from MP 16.8 to MP 16.0, Newscom, the east-facing south-side spur at TVA Spur (MP 14.9) and Bellevue, turning northeast, past Belle Meade, Sellers (MP 3.0), where the maximum speed drops to 30 mph and a second track starts, Shops (MP 2.0), where lines from West Nashville and Georgia Pacific trail in on the north side, an bridge that once carried an erstwhile IC line overhead, the west-facing south-side spur at Diamond Hill (MP 1.7), the end of the second track at 11th Avenue (MP 0.7), where the maximum speed drops to 10 mph, and the NWR line trails in on the north side, the west leg of a wye on the north side at 8th Avenue as the line turns southeast, to the junction at Church Street (MP 0.0), where the Louisville and Henderson subdivisions trail in on the northeast side, and the line continues five tracks wide.
