Laurel to Huntley

From Laurel NX (MP 14.9), where the BNSF Casper subdivision (ex-CB&Q) from Bridger Junction, WY (near Orin at the south end of the Powder River coal line) turns away to the south with a wye at the junction, where the speed limit is 40 mph at the junction, and Yard Limits, 10 mph, start for Laurel Yard (MP 13.7) to the east for almost two miles, with the yard tracks mainly located on the south(east) side of the tracks, to Mossmain (MP 12.1), where the BNSF (ex-GN) line from Great Falls trails in from the north at a wye, Yard Limits end, and Two Main Tracks, CTC, start again, Shilo (MP 11.5), where the line becomes Double Track, Automatic Block Signals, operated under Track Warrant Control, the speed limit is 50 mph and is headed northeast, Yegen (MP 7.8), a spur at Elk River Concrete (MP 7.0), Rockwood (MP 5.2), spurs on the south side at Billings Industrial Park (MP 2.8), to Western Sugar, shuttle-enabled grain elevators, etc., and crossovers at Billings (MP 0.0/225.8), where the former NP depot, now beautifully restored and used for civic functions, is on the northwest side of the tracks.

There is a spur to the Coach Yard (MP 225.4), on the north side of the line, a spur trailing in from the Chevron Refinery and the PPL JE Corette Power Plant, a bridge over the Yellowstone River to its south side, East Billings (MP 223.4), where the speed limit drops to 40 mph, a spur to Dyce Chemical (MP 222.7), a spur at Brick Yard (MP 222.7), where the line becomes single track, CTC, and the speed limit reverts to 50 mph, Exxon refinery, where the line turns northeast, a spur at Airco (MP 221.6), a detector at MP 219.6, and the 14,756 ft. siding at Lockwood (MP 219.2), a turn just north of due east, the 10,697 ft. siding at Huntley (MP 213.1), where the former CB&Q line to Gillette, WY, and Alliance, NE, departs on the south side, a spur at Coors (MP 211.5), and Jones Junction (MP 208.9), where MRL ownership ends, a connector from the former CB&Q trails in on the south side, and the former NP continues east-northeast.
