Feather River Canyon Traffic

Over half the trains in the canyon in in mid 1990s are unit trains of some sort: Intermodal; Automotive; Grain; or Steel.

After the BN/ATSF and UP/SP mergers, BNSF purchased the “high line” and re-instituted the Inside Gateway service that had previously flourished under BN/WP/ATSF auspices in the 1960s and 1970s.
