O'Fallons to Gibbon Junction

From the wye junction on the north side of the Overland Route with the coal line from South Morrill at O'Fallons (MP 300.3), and subsequent crossovers, the line becomes 4MT, CTC, speed limit 60 mph, continuing east past crossovers at Lee (MP 297.9), detectors at MP 297.7, Hershey (MP 296.5), crossovers at Nichols (MP 294.9), crossovers at Hindman (MP 292.0), where the speed limit drops to 35 mph, yard leads starting on the north side of each of Track 1 and Track 2 (the northerly pair), crossovers at Birdwood (MP 291.0), where the number of Main Tracks drops to Three, still CTC, with Track 4 (on the south side) becoming a yard lead there, the manual interlocking at CP W290 (MP 290.5), west end of several of the sub-yards on the south side, Hold Signals at CP B289 (MP 289.4), west end of the on-line fueling area (four tracks) and several sub-yards on the north side, crossovers at CP W988 (MP 288.5), east end of the on-line fueling area, crossovers at CP W288 (MP 288.3), where the number of through tracks reduces to two and the through tracks become ABS, and the yard on both sides of the line at North Platte (MP 286.5).

There is a manual interlocking at CP B287 (MP 286.0), where there is a hand throw crossover on the through tracks, a grade crossing, a manual interlocking at CP B286 (MP 285.4), where there are hand throw crossovers on the through tracks, a road bridge overhead, crossovers at CP B285 (MP 285.6), where the yards on the south side reduce to a single departure track, which will become Track 3, a detector on Track 2 at MP 285.5, three road bridges overhead, shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators to the north (with a critter), a road bridge overhead, a manual interlocking at CP B284 (MP 284.5), east end of the van yard and the yards on the north side, shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators to the north (with a critter), signal bridges and crossovers at CP B283 (MP 283.4), where Three Main Tracks, CTC (the "Triple Track") begin, Bryan Ave (MP 283.0), where the speed limit has risen to 45 mph, a turn just north of due east, a road bridge overhead, a deck girder bridge over the North Platte River, which has been running along the north side of the yard, Intermediate Signals at MP 282.1, and Platte River (MP 282.0), where the speed limit has risen to 55 mph.

The line turns east southeast to follow the now joined Platte River, 3MT, CTC, speed limit 65 mph, rising to 70 mph, past Intermediate Signals at MP 280.4, Intermediate Signals at MP 278.1, US 30 appearing to the south, a road to the north, Intermediate Signals at MP 277.5, Beck, detectors at MP 276.2, crossovers at West Keith (MP 276.0), crossovers at East Keith (MP 274.0), a dirt road grade crossing, a road bridge carrying US 30 overhead, Intermediate Signals,  Maxwell (MP 270.3), a grade crossing, east-facing extra track to the south, detectors at MP 269.5, Intermediate Signals, US 30 to the north, a road to the south, a dirt road grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, Hold Signals at MP 268.1, two dirt track grade crossings, a bridge over drainage, Intermediate Signals at MP 266.7, US 30 to the north, Intermediate Signals, two dirt track grade crossings,  and crossovers at Pawnee (MP 263.3).

There is a turn to the southeast past a road bridge overhead, Intermediate Signals at Brady (MP 261.4), extra track to the south, and detectors at MP 261.0, east, past Intermediate Signals at MP 259.x, a dirt track grade crossing, and a dirt road grade crossing, southeast past the 10,657 ft. north side siding at Farr (MP 257.7 - MP 255.6), on Track 1 only, Intermediate Signals at MP 257.7 (Tracks 2 & 3), two dirt track grade crossings within the siding, and Intermediate Signals at MP 255.6 (Tracks 2 & 3), and east-southeast past a dirt road grade crossing, Vroman (MP 252.9), detectors at MP 252.5, a dirt track grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 251.1, a dirt track grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, extra track to the north for shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators (with a critter) at Gothenburg (MP 248.8), extra track to the south, a grade crossing, and a road bridge overhead.

The line passes Intermediate Signals at MP 247.3, MP 247, a spur on the south side at Jurgens, crossovers, a dirt road grade crossing, MP 245, a dirt track grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at Willow Island (MP 243.9), extra track to the north, a dirt road grade crossing, detectors at MP 243.2, a dirt road grade crossing, Intermediate Signals, a grade crossing, the west end of a 14,800 ft. north side siding at CP B241 (MP 240.7) on Track 1, a grade crossing, Hold Signals at MP 238.9 on Tracks 2 & 3, a road to the south, the east end of the siding and extra track to the north for shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators at Cozad (MP 238.2) on Track 1, extra track to the south, a bridge over a stream, a grade crossing, extra track to silos to the south, a dirt road grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 236.9, a grade crossing, and crossovers at Darr (MP 235.5).

There is a turn just south of due east, generally following the course of the Platte River, past a dirt track grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 233.x, US 30 to the north, a dirt road to the south, a grade crossing, detectors at MP 227.0, a grade crossing, crossovers at West Lexington (MP 226.0), a road bridge overhead, extra track to the north, a grade crossing, extra track to the north, a road bridge overhead, and three extra tracks to the south to shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators (with a critter to the north) at Lexington (MP 224.4), five dirt road grade crossings, a dirt road grade crossing at the crossovers at Spring Creek (MP 221.0), a dirt road grade crossing, Intermediate Signals, a dirt road grade crossing, extra track to silos to the south, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals,  Josselyn (MP 217.9), and two dirt road grade crossings.

The line passes Intermediate Signals at MP 215.4, a dirt road grade crossing, US 30 alongside to the north, a road bridge overhead, two extra tracks to the south to shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators at Overton (MP 212.7), a grade crossing, extra track to the south, detectors at MP 210.8, a dirt road grade crossing, a bridge over drainage, two dirt road grade crossings, a grade crossing, crossovers at Simonds (MP 208.1), a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals, Agrex (MP 205.9) on Track 3, two extra tracks to the south, to shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators at Elm Creek (MP 204.3), a road bridge overhead, extra track to silos to the north, to shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators, a grade crosisng, Intermediate Signals, two dirt road grade crossings, Intermediate Signals at MP 202.1, a dirt road grade crossing, a grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, a grade crossing, and crossovers at Odessa (MP 198.0).

There are detectors on Tracks 1 & 2 at MP 197.4, a grade crossing, extra track to the south, a detector on Track 3 at MP 197.0, a dirt road grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 193.5, two grade crossings, Intermediate Signals, Alfalfa Center (MP 191.5), two dirt road grade crossings, a dirt track grade crossing, and a turn just north of due east past a road bridge overhead, a road alongside to the north, crossovers at West Kearney (MP 189.9),a grade crossing, two extra tracks to the south, to shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators, a road bridge voerhead, a grade crossing, and the junction with the Kearney Industrial Lead to the north at Kearney (MP 188.8) on Track 1, where an erstwhile CB&Q branch once headed east-southeast (i.e., on the south side), a road bridge overhead, extra track to the north and south, a road bridge overhead, extra track to the north, a grade crossing, and crossovers at East Kearney (MP 186.8).

The line passes a grade crossing, two extra tracks to the south for petro tanks, detectors at MP 183.0, a dirt road grade crossing, extra track to the south, crossovers at Highway 10 (MP 181.8), a dirt road grade crossing, extra tracks to the south to petro tanks, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals, a spur at Optic (MP 179.8), a dirt road grade crossing, a west-facing extra track to the south, a grade crossing, three west-facing extra tracks to the south, with a Cargill critter, shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators at Cargill (MP 178.0) on Track 3, three more extra tracks to the south, with a Cargill critter, a road bridge overhead, two extra tracks to the south, for the yard and shuttle-enabled rail-served grain elevators at Gibbon (MP 175.6), a grade crossing,  and the crossovers and junction at Gibbon Junction (MP 175.1), where there is a grade crossing, the speed limit is 60 mph, the 2MT Marysville line curves away on the south side, and the main line reduces from 3MT to 2MT (the most southerly track heads towards Marysville), heading east-northeast.
