Decatur to Black Creek (Birmingham)

From the junction with the NS Chattanooga line, trailing in from the east-northeast at Decatur Junction (MP 306.2),with a 20 mph speed restriction, from MP 306.0 to MP 307.5, where the line turns south-southwest, across the (NS) Tennessee River Drawbridge, to the junction with the NS Memphis line, heading west at Decatur (MP 307.2), the CSX line turns south, single track, CTC, maximum speed 60 mph, but local restriction 25 mph from MP 307.2 to MP 307.5, with an east-side signalled siding (25 mph), past the yard on the east side at Oakworth (MP 309.2), where the maximum speed drops to 50 mph, the end of the siding at South Oakworth (MP 309.4), and Flint, turning just east of due south, east, south past a 40 mph speed restriction over a street crossing at MP 319.8 and the 11,495 ft. east-side siding at Hartselle (MP 321.4), and just east of due south, past Leesdale, a detector at "Falkville" (MP 323.5), a 40 mph speed restriction, by ordinance, from MP 325.1 to MP 325.7, and the 18-car south-facing spur at Falkville (MP 326.0)

There is a 35 mph speed restriction, from MP 330.4 to MP 334.0, past Willhite and a curvy segment of line, a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 334.0 to MP 338.3, the 23-car north-facing spur at Vinemont (MP 335.0), a turn south, past the 11,495 ft. east-side siding at Holmes Gap (MP 336.9), a turn southeast, with a 35 mph speed restriction, from MP 338.3 to MP 338.6, a 35 mph speed restriction, through Cullman, from MP 338.4 to MP 341.1, a turn south and then southeast again, with a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 338.6 to MP 341.0, past Phelan and a detector at Wesoda (MP 345.7), a turn south, past the 12,210 ft. east-side siding at Hanceville (MP 350.9), Stout Mountain Junction, where an erstwhile spur to Stout Mountain once headed west-southwest, the 90-car dual-ended spur at Garden City (MP 354.0), and a turn curvily just west of due south, with a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 354.6 to MP 356.1, past Bangor.

The line turns south-southeast, where an erstwhile line continued south-southwest, with a 35 mph speed restriction, from MP 358.6 to MP 359.6,  past Blount Tunnel and Blount Springs, and a 40 mph speed restriction, from MP 359.6 to MP 363.2, past Hayden Tunnel, a turn curvily south, and Hayden, and then passing the 11,550 ft. east-side siding at Nyota (MP 364.4), a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 365.2 to MP 365.4, a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 366.9 to MP 369.5, the four-car north-facing spur on the east side at Trafford (MP 367.9), a detector at Self Creek (MP 371.8), Columbus, a 35 mph speed restriction, from MP 375.6 to MP 376.2, Monmouth, where that erstwhile line on the west side once trailed back in, Morlam, where the line turns curvily south-southwest, with a 45 mph speed restriction, from MP 378.5 to MP 383.5, the start of Two Main Tracks, CTC (Yard Limits), at New Castle (MP 379.8), and a turn curvily south to the junction with the Cain Creek Branch, trailing in from the west at Black Creek (MP 383.8).
