Latonia to HK Tower (Anchorage)

From the wye (10 mph on the north leg, 15 mph on the south leg)  on the west side of the Cincinnati to Corbin line at Latonia (MP 105.6), the line heads west, single track, CTC, maximum speed 50 mph for intermodal trains and 45 mph for other freight trains, but local speed restriction 30 mph, past grade crossings with Lincoln Avenue, Church Street, and Decoursey Avenue, to Latonia (South End, MP 104.2), where it turns southwest and a 5,030 ft. north side siding is all that remains of Old Latonia Yard, past the end of Yard Limits and a dragging equipment detector at MP 104.1, bridging over Caroline Street and passing a spur on the south side from Aunt Nellie's Liberty Brand, trailing in, a spur on the north side, and a bridge over a creek.

The line turns south-southwest, south, south-southwest, southwest, south, and curvily south-southwest, past the 5-car south-facing spur at Independence (MP 97.1), west with a 25 mph speed restriction (down from 30 mph) from MP 97.0 to MP 95.5, past Richardson Trestle, a multi-span deck girder trestle over a road in a narrow valley, south-southwest with a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 95.5 to MP 72.0, past a dragging equipment detector at MP 93.9, the 9-car dual-ended spur at MP 92.9, and the 9.870 ft. south side siding at Bank Lick (MP 91.1), southwest, past a pond to the south, passing below the through-truss bridge carrying the CNO&TP line south, past a pond on the north side, south on the west side of that line, past the 8-car north-facing spur at Walton (MP 89.2), a multi-span deck girder bridge over I-75, and a detector at "Walton" (MP 87.7), and curvily west past the 10-car south-facing spur at MP 84.1, an angled grade crossing, and the 8,605 ft. curving north side siding at Verona (MP 81.9).

There is a rock cutting, a sweeping curve around to the south-southwest, a grade crossing at Monk, a curve south-southeast and then west-southwest, with a dirt road alongside to the south, turning across a dirt road grade crossing, a turn south through Zion, past a grade crossing, and curvily southwest through a tunnel and past Elliston, curving back and forth through the short Yankee Tunnel and a cutting to its west, and jogging northwest before resuming the southwesterly heading, downgrade past a 45 mph (up from 35 mph) speed restriction from MP 72.0 to MP 71.3, a 30 mph speed restriction from MP 71.3 to MP 70.4, through the town of Glencoe, the 12-car south-side dual-ended spur at MP 70.5, a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 70.4 to MP 59.0, the 6,570 ft. north side siding at Glencoe (MP 70.1), with two grade crossings in the siding, a descent past a detector at "Sparta" (MP 67.8), with a road to the south among open fields, a grade crossing, the 6-car north-facing spur on the north side, across that grade crossing at Sparta (MP 65.0), with an old depot on the south side, where the line starts to curve again, on an embankment with a bridge over a culvert, past a grade crossing, a through girder bridge over a stream, the 23-car south-facing south-side spur at Sanders (MP 62.0), a 40 mph (down from 45 mph) speed restriction from MP 59.0 to MP 57.2, a dragging equipment detector at MP 58.5, Eagle, a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 57.2 to MP 53.2, and the 65-car dual-ended spur at MP 54.5.

The Carrolton Branch, to a coal mine on the Ohio River, departs on the north side at the 8,550 ft. south side siding at Worthville (MP 54.1), with a pedestrian crossing on the siding, north of the branch, a grade crossing, extra track to the south, and a locomotive terminal for the Carrolton Branch, all within the siding, and the line bridges the Kentucky River, turning north-northwest and climbing along its west bank, with a 35 mph speed restriction on curves and the grade from MP 53.2 to MP 50.9, west past English, with a 30 mph speed restriction from MP 50.9 to MP 47.8, south-southwest past a 1.13% upgrade, a detector at "Barnes" (MP 49.6), and a 25 mph speed restriction from MP 47.8 to MP 37.9,  through a tunnel, southwest past the 12-car south-facing spur at Turners (MP 44.0), and a pedestrian crossing, south, past a wide cutting (where a tunnel once was), a deck girder bridge over a stream, and a road bridge overhead, and southwest again past a grade crossing just north of the 8.935 ft. south side siding at Campbellsburg (MP 39.5), with the 5-car north-facing spur at MP 40.8, and a grade crossing over four tracks, within the siding, more curves with a 35 mph speed restriction (up from 25 mph) from MP 37.9 to MP 33.0, Sulphur, a turn curvily south-southwest on a 1% upgrade, a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 33.0 to MP 27.1, an angled grade crossing at Knot Olive Road, and the 8-car north-facing spur at Pendleton (MP 32.7), where there are Intermediate Signals and a grade corssing.

The line turns southwest, past the 50-car north side dual-ended spur at MP 27.3, a location where an erstwhile branch from Christiansburg once trailed in on the south side, a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 27.1 to MP 27.0, the 8,330 ft. north side siding at La Grange (MP 27.0), a street alongside to the north, a speed restriction on the street running through La Grange, from MP 27.0 to MP 26.2, 10 mph until engines block streets (fiver or more of them on the street running), and 20 mph afterwards, a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 26.2 to MP 17.3, Bonham, the 30-car south-facing spur at Buckner (MP 23.4), where the line turns south, then west-southwest and south again, past the 10-car south-facing spur at Camden (MP 19.9), just south of due west past the 12-car south-facing spur at Crestwood (MP 18.5), south-southwest past a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 17.3 to MP 16.2, through Peewee Valley, and southwest and then south-southwest again, with a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 16.2 to MP 12.9, past the wye on the north side into O'Bannon Yard at O'Bannon (MP 14.8),  the 7,230 ft. south side siding at Pogue (MP 13.5), a 25 mph speed restriction from MP 13.1 to MP 11.0, and HK Tower (MP 12.5), where the former C&O EK subdivision (from Winchester) trails in on the south side, and the line turns just north of due west, with Two Main Tracks.
