SW/Osborn Yard to Memphis Junction

From the north leg of the wye, on the west side, with the line to St. Louis, at SW, where the speed limit increases to 50 mph, more crossovers, the spur from the General Electric Yard, the Bulk Terminal, and Ford trailing in on the east side, the south leg of the wye on the west side, at Dudley, and the 8-track L Yard and the 48-track B Yard of Osborn Yard (MP 5.9) to the east, and the 8-track C Yard to the west, the line continues, just east of due south, double track, Yard Limits, maximum speed 50 mph, past the bridge carrying the Out Loop Overpass overhead, a crossover, crossovers at the south end of the yard, where the extra track on the east side ends, a grade crossing with South Park Road, the Fairdale Road bridge overhead, a crossover the other way, the end of Yard Limits at MP 9.0, and Park (MP 9.2).

The line continues just east of due south, double track, current-of-traffic (Rule D-251), maximum speed 60 mph for intermodal trains and 50 mph for other freights trains,, turning south-southeast past a 50 mph speed restriction from MP 15.9 to MP 16.4, a spur on the west side for a brickyard, Coral Ridge, a grade crossing at SR 1020, Brooks, where it turns south, Hubers, a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 18.1 to MP 18.6, through Shepherdsville (MP 18.1), a through-truss bridge over a stream, a grade crossing, Soft River, where it turns just east of due south, Bardstown, a 40-car dual-ended spur at Bardstown Junction (MP 22.1), where the Bardstown Branch heads east, there is a road bridge overhead, and the line turns just west of due south, a grade crossing, and a detector at Belmont (MP 24.9),where it turns southwest and then south again.

There is a 25 mph speed restriction through Lebanon Junction, from MP 28.6 to MP 30.1, past a grade crossing, the yard at Lebanon Junction (MP 29.7), where double track, Rule D-251, becomes Two Main Tracks, CTC, there are signals and a crossover, the Lebanon Spur heads east-southeast, there is an old concrete coaling tower straddling the tracks, and the main line turns south-southwest, past Booths, where it turns curvily southwest, a 50 mph speed restriction from MP 32.8 to MP 34.6, Colesburg, a grade crossing, extra track to the west, a 35 mph speed restriction from MP 34.6 to MP 39.1, Tunnel Hill, where it turns south-southwest and later southwest again, and a 40 mph speed restriction through Elizabethtown, from MP 41.2 to MP 44.0

Single track, CTC, starts at Elizabethtown (MP 42.5), where  there is a 17,350 ft. west side siding and a 17-car dual-ended spur, a former Illinois Central branch from Hodgenville trails in on the east side, and the former IC line to Paducah, now run by the Paducah & Louisville, heads west, white-fenced farms, a detector at Gaithers (MP 45.3), where the main line turns south, past a grade crossing, a road bridge overhead at MP 47, a road alongside to the east, a grade crossing, an old wooden depot on the east side, Glendale, Homeland, Nolin, a 22-car dual-ended spur at MP 54.9, the 6,845 ft. east side siding at Sonora (MP 55.2), a 50 mph speed restriction between MP 58.7 and MP 58.9, a 44-car south-facing spur at Upton (MP 59.6), a detector at Dombey (MP 61.4), Vento, a 30 mph speed restriction through Bonnieville, from MP 65.0 to MP 66.0, a 9-car dual-ended spur at MP 65.9, the 6,955 ft. west side siding at Bonnieville (MP 66.2), Dividing Ridge, a road alongside to the west, a 50 mph speed restriction from MP 69.1 to MP 72.4, a rock wall to the east, rolling hills, Mumfordsville, a multi-span deck girder bridge over a river, a 45 mph speed restriction from MP 73.8 to MP 74.1, and the 4,985 ft. east side siding at Rowletts (MP 75.8).

The line edges south-southeast, and then makes a sweeping turn to the southwest, past a 35 mph speed restriction through Horse Cave, MP 80.4 (Gunthrie Street) to MP 80.8 (McFerron Street), where the abandoned Mammoth Cave Inn is on the east side of the line, a 35-car dual-ended spur on the west side at Horse Cave (MP 80.9), a detector at "Horse Cave" (MP 82.5), a 45 mph speed restriction through Cave City (MP 84.4 to MP 84.8), and the 6,790 ft. west side siding at Cave City (MP 84.6), with a grade crossing in the siding, turning west-southwest past a 39-car dual-ended spur at MP 90.3, Park City (MP 90.7), where the Glasgow Branch heads southeast, a 20-car dual-ended spur at MP 95.9, the 6,790 ft. west side siding at Rocky Hill (MP 96.2), Smith's Grove, a detector at Oakland (MP 102.3), the 7,010 ft. west side siding at Gossom (MP 104.1), Sunnyside, a yard at Bristow (MP 109.0), and a bridge over a road at MP 112.

Yard Limits start at MP 112.8, with a 30 mph speed restriction through Bowling Green, between MP 112.8 and MP 115.2, past at least one grade crossing, and the line turns southwest, past a 40 mph speed restriction from MP 115.2 to MP 115.5 and the 11,355 ft. west side siding at Morgantown (MP 115.7), and then south-southwest, past the end of Yard Limits at MP 118.0, to Memphis Junction (MP 118.1), where the Memphis Branch (all that CSX still owns of the line to Memphis, now owned by RJ Corman) leaves on the west side,  and the main line continues south-southwest.
