Parkwood (Birmingham) to 27th St/14th St

From the Lineville subdivision trailing in on the west side at the 12,265 ft, siding at Parkwood (MP 403.3), where an erstwhile line to Bessemer once left to the north, the main line turns north-northeast, the former L&N continues north-northwest, single track, CTC, maximum speed 79 mph for passenger trains, 60 mph for intermodal trains, and 50 mph for other trains, with local speed restriction 50 mph, from MP 400.7 to MP 400.1, after which full line speeds prevail, a 40/30 mph speed restriction, from MP 398.1 to MP 392.1 as the line turns curvily just east of due north, past Oxmoor, the start of Two Main Tracks at Graces (MP 396.5), where Yard Limits start and there was once a flat crossing with an erstwhile L&N line, and Spaulding. The North Branch line from Bessemer trails in on the west side at Magella (MP 394.6), where the line turns north-northeast, past South Alice (MP 393.5), past a 20 mph speed restriction, from MP 392.1 to MP 391.0, to the  flat crossing with the double track NS main line (Southern Main Line), with northwest and southeast quadrant connectors, at 14th Street/13th Street (MP 392.1).

There is a turn south-southwest, a flat crossing (15 mph) with the double track NS Sheffield line at 27th Street (MP 390.8), with a west quadrant connector (15 mph) trailing in on the west side at the crossover at 24th Street (MP 391.1), where the New Way from the Alabama Mineral sub. trails in on the east side, a turn southwest, along the north side of the NS main line, with an additional two tracks on the west side, surrounding the island platform with umbrella shed, at the Birmingham Passenger Station, after which the more westerly passenger track trails into the other one, and the junction with the Old Elyton sub., on the west side, and the flat crossing with the double track NS main line (Southern Main Line), with northwest and southeast quadrant connectors, at 14th Street/13th Street (MP 392.1), where the additional passenger track ends.
