From Greenfield (MP 385.36) and the junction with a connector coming south (on the northeast side) from the Connecticut River Main Line at CPF-385 (MP 385.22), where single track, CTC, resumes, the line turns east, with a 10 mph speed restriction, from MP 384 to East Limit CPF-383, passing beneath a bridge carrying the Connecticut River Main Line, past a former crossing with an erstwhile New Haven line, CPF-384 (MP 383.65), where a connector north from the Connecticut River Main Line trails in from the south and a spur once headed away north, East Deerfield (MP 382.70), and CPF-383 (MP 382.65), bridging over the Connecticut River and turning south-southeast, past CPF-381 (MP 380.97), where double track, current-of-traffic (Rule 251), starts, with a 10 mph speed restriction on Track 2, and northeast, past Montague (MP 380.72), Lake Pleasant (MP 379.60), a 30 mph speed restriction on Track 1 from MP 378 to MP 372, where full line speed prevails, and the connector on the north side with the New England Central (former Central Vermont) at COF377.11 (MP 377.11).

The line turns east, north-northeast past Farley (MP 373.62) and Erving (MP 371.30), just south of due east, past CFF-370 (MP370.24), where single track, CTC, resumes, Wendall (MP 369.02), Orange (MP 366.20), and Tyter, curvily north-northeast past CPF-363 (MP 362.66), where double track, current-of-traffic (Rule 251), starts, with a 10 mph speed restriction on Track 2, a 30 mph speed restriction on Track 1 from MP 362 to MP 354, where full line speed prevails, Athol, COF 361.99 (MP 361.99), where an erstwhile Boston & Albany line once trailed in from the south (on the east side), and Royalston (MP 355.42), curvily east past CPF-354 (MP 353.56), where single track, CTC, resumes, and Wrights, south-southeast past Baldwinville (MP 350.53), where an erstwhile Boston & Albany line once crossed, Otter River (MP 348.58), and Parkers, CPF-346 (MP 346.41), where Two Main Tracks, CTC, start, with a 10 mph speed restriction on Track 2, and curvily east to the junction with the Providence & Worcester (former Boston & Maine) line to Worcester, turning away south at Gardner (MP 344.66), where an erstwhile B&M line once trailed in from the north.
