Donkey Creek Junction to Alliance (Crawford Hill)

Donkey Creek Junction is the south apex of the wye on the south side of the former CB&Q Billings/Lincoln line, with west apex at West Donkey Creek Junction (MP 587.1) and east apex at East Donkey Creek Junction (MP 586.4), from which the line heads east, Two Main Tracks, CTC, speed limit 35 mph, past crossovers at Crossover 584.4 (MP 584.4), yard tracks on the south side, crossovers at Crossover 581.4 (MP 581.4), more yard tracks on the south side, East Rozet (MP 576.5), where the line narrows to single track, CTC, and the speed limit has risen to 60 mph, and a detector at MP 573.8, turning curvily southeast past additional track at Moorcroft Cement Plant (MP 569.8), Moorcroft (MP 569.0), where 2MT resume and the speed limit has fallen to 50 mph, crossovers at Crossover 567.0 (MP 567.0), detectors at MP 564.5, Kara (MP 562.0), where single track resumes, and Thornton (MP 556.3), where 2MT resume and the speed limit rises to 60 mph.

There is a crossover at Crossover 552.1 (MP 552.1), a crossover at Crossover 551.6 (MP 551.6), Bentley, Colloid (MP 549.3), Upton, crossovers at Crossver 547.2 (MP 547.2), Jerome (MP 543.0), a turn curvily south-southeast, crossovers at Crossover 539.7 (MP 539.7), additional track at BTI (MP 536.3), Osage (MP 535.4), East Osage (MP 535.3), start of a short stretch of single track, a detector at MP 532.7, West Pedro (MP 528.5), where 2MT resume, Pedro (MP 528.5), where the line turns southeast, crossovers at Crossover 523.3 (MP 523.3), where the speed limit is 50 mph and the line turns east, Newcastle (MP 520.7), where the speed limit is 30 mph, a branch from Cambria once trailed in from the north and the line jogs south before turning east again, a turn south-southwest, and crossovers at Crossover 516.3 (MP 516.3), where the speed limit is 50 mph.

The line turns just east of due south, past detectors at MP 514.8, where the speed limit has risen to 60 mph, Spencer (MP 513.9), crossovers at Crossover 510.0 (MP 510.0), Owens (MP 507.1), crossovers at Crossover 504.8 (MP 504.8), and Clifton, just west of due south past Dakoming, just east of due south past the border between Wyoming and South Dakota, crossovers at Crossover 496.1 (MP 496.1), Dewey (MP 495.8), East Dewey (MP 494.6), where a short stretch of single track starts, a detector at MP 492.0, Burdock, Marietta (MP 484.3), alongside the Cheyenne River (to the southwest), where 2MT resume, a crossover at Crossover 478.8 (MP 478.8), a crossover at Crossover 477.2 (MP 477.2), where the speed limit has fallen to 50 mph, and Deadwood Junction (MP 476.7), where an erstwhile CB&Q line once trailed in from the north and the line turns south.

There is a bridge over the Cheyenne River, Edgemont (MP 476.1), where the speed limit is 25 mph, a turn southwest, East Edgemont (MP 475.2, where the speed limit has risen to 45 mph, crossovers at Crossover 473.6 (MP 473.6), a turn just west of due south, detectors at MP 470.6, a turn just east of due south, crossovers at Crossover 466.9 (MP 466.9), where the speed limit is 40 mph, Area Wye  (MP 466.4), a wye on the southwest side, where the speed limit has risen to 60 mph and the line turns east-southeast, Provo (MP 465.2), where the line reduces to single track, a turn southeast, the 14,167 ft. siding at Rumford (MP 458.8), a turn to the south, a detector at MP 454.4, West Ardmore, Ardmore (MP 451.2), where 2MT begin again, the border between South Dakota and Nebraska, where the line turns south-southeast, and crossovers at Crossover 445.1 (MP 445.1), where the speed limit is 50 mph.

The line turns curvily south, past Orello, south-southeast past crossovers at Crossover 437.5 (MP 437.5), where the speed limit is back to 60 mph, Joder (MP 437.0), and crossovers at Crossover 432.8 (MP 432.8), south past detectors at MP 428.2) and Horn, just east of due south past crossovers at Crossover 425.5 (MP 425.5), crossovers at Crossover 423.6 (MP 423.6), and crossovers and the junction with the DME (former C&NW) trailing in from the northeast at Crawford (MP 422.9), where the erstwhile C&NW once continued west to Crandall on what is now the UP coal line, the line turns south-southeast, and  the speed limit has fallen to 40 mph at the base of the ascent of Crawford Hill, past crossovers at Crossover 419.8 (MP 419.8), where it turns south, then southeast, just west of due south, southwest, just east of due south past detectors at MP 414.2, just west of due south, a clockwise horseshoe back to the north-northwest, a counter-clockwise horseshoe to just east of due south, past detectors at MP 412.7, and then south past the abandoned Belmont Tunnel (on the east side of the line), the 10,227 ft. siding (old main separated on the west side of the line) and crossovers at Belmont (MP 409.7), where the speed limit has fallen to 30 mph, at the summit of the hill, and crossovers at Crossover 408.4 (MP 408.4), end of the siding, where the line turns southeast.

There are detectors at MP 406.2, where the speed limit is back to 60 mph, crossovers at Crossover 403.9 (MP 403.9), where the line turns just west of due south, Marsland (MP 400.5), a counter-clockwise horseshoe back to the northeast, a turn east and then curvily southeast, crossovers at Crossover 392.2 (MP 392.2), Nonpareil (MP 391.3), detectors at MP 390.4, crossovers at Crossover 386.8 (MP 386.8), a turn south-southeast, Hemingford (MP 384.6), where single track resumes, Nida (MP 381.9), where 2MT resume, Berea (MP 376.2), West Alliance (MP 369.2), Ginn (MP 366.8), where the speed limit is 25 mph, and Third Street (MP 366.2), northwest apex of the wye with the line south to Northport, Sterling, and Denver, where the speed limit is 10 mph and a short stretch of single track intrudes as the line turns east to Emerson (MP 365.9), east apex of the wye, where double track resumes, in Yard Limits  with the Alliance yard to the south of the main line, Alliance (MP 365.6), and crossovers at East Alliance (MP 364.0), where the speed limit rises to 20 mph, and then to 60 mph as 2MT, CTC, resume.
