Cincinnati to Lexington

From Cincinnati Gest Street Yard (MP 0.0), the line heads south, Two Main Tracks, Automatic Block Signals, bridging over Gest Street, past the connecting track from the CSX Cincinnati Junction trailing in on the west side at 8th Street (MP 1.9), and the connecting track from the NS Pig Yard at Intermodal (MP 2.0), rising up on the steel trestlework heading for the bridge over the Ohio River, crossing over the 8th Street Viaduct, with the connecting track from and Cincinnati Union Terminal trailing in on the east side at CUT Switch (MP 2.6), where Traffic Control starts, overall speed limit 60 mph for intermodal trains and 50mph for all other freight trains and engines, except local restriction 15 mph for all trains, turning south-southwest and bridging over the CSX Yard Two Lead, Highline 1 and Highline 2, then over the Indiana & Ohio Railway Central Indiana Ditch Track, the 6th Street Expressway, a rail track along the riverfront, and the Ohio River Bridge (MP 2.7 to MP 3.0, local speed restriction 20 mph) to Ludlow (MP 3.0), where the local speed restriction becomes 25 mph, there are crossovers, and there is a yard on the west side of the line.

The line now climbs Erlanger Hill, on a ledge with the hillside to the east and the river valley to the west, and then curving back and forth past detectors at Crescent Springs (MP 8.0) and spurs at Queen City Paper, before resuming the south-southwesterly course to a crossover (40 mph on the crossover) at Erlanger (MP 9.8), where it reaches the top of the hill and all local speed restrictions end. There is a grade crossing at Stevenson Road (MP 9.9), a speed restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 11.1 and MP 11.8. Two Main Tracks end in favor of a stretch of Single Track at Rice (MP 12.5, 40 mph on the turnout), and the line continues past a speed restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 12.9 and MP 13.5, Devon, a detector at "Devon" (MP 14.2).

The line turns just east of due south at the spurs at Richwood (MP 16.6), past Kensington, a speed restriction of 55-50 on curves between MP 18.8 and MP 19.2 as the line turns south, a bridge over the CSX (L&N) "Short Line", and a detector at Walton (MP 20.0), a speed restriction of 55-50 on curves between MP 20.6 and MP 20.8as the line turns just west of due south, the resumption of Two Main Tracks at Bracht (MP 22.5), a speed restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 23.5 and MP 23.8, Adams (MP 24.5), and Crittenden, a speed restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 29.2 and MP 29.8 as the line turns just east of due south, a speed restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 30.4 and MP 30.7, Sherman, a speed restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 31.5 and MP 31.8, and another stretch of Single Track at Reid (MP 32.0, 40 mph on the turnout).

There is a detector at Dry Ridge (MP 33.2), a speed restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 34.0 and MP 34.7, as the line turns south-southeast, a speed restriction to 55-50 on curves between MP 37.0 and MP 38.6, as the line turns southeast and then south-southwest, past Williamstown (MP 38.1), a speed restriction to 50-45 on curves between MP 38.6 and MP 38.9, a speed restriction to 50-45 on curves between MP 40.5 and MP 41.1 as the line turns just west of due south, a speed restriction to 50 mph on curves between MP 41.4 and MP 41.6 past a detector at "Mason" (MP 41.5), a speed restriction to 50-45 on curves between MP 41.8 and MP 42.1, a speed restriction to 50 mph on curves between MP 42,1 and MP 43.8, past the resumption of Two Main Tracks at Mason (MP 43.0, 40 mph on the turnout).

The line turns south-southeast and then just west of due south again, with a speed restriction to 50-45 on curves between MP 43.8 and MP 45.6, and passes crossovers at Blanchet (MP 46.8, 40 mph on the turnouts), where the line turns south-southeast again, Corinth, a speed restriction of 55-50 on curves between MP 49.2 and MP 50.0, another stretch of Single Track at Rohan (MP 50.4, 40 mph on the turnout), a speed restriction of 50-45 on curves between MP 51.5 and MP 52.2, a detector at Hinton (MP 51.9), and speed restriction of 55-50 on curves between MP 52.2 and MP 52.5 as the line turns just west of due south.

There is speed restriction of 45 mph on curves between MP 55.0 and MP 55.3, and a speed restriction of 55-50 on curves between MP 55.3 and MP 56.3, as the line jogs just east of due south and then south-southwest past Sadieville (MP 56.6), a speed restriction of 55-50 on curves between MP 56.7 and MP 59.1 as the line turns just east of due south, a detector at "Rogers Gap" (MP 60.0), where the line edges just west of due south, the resumption of Two Main Tracks at Rogers Gap (MP 62.2, 40 mph on the turnout), crossovers at Delaplain (MP 65.4, 40 mph on the turnouts), and a yard at Delaplian (MP 65.5) for the Toyota facilities.

The erstwhile Franfort & Cincinnati Railroad once crossed on the flat at the crossovers at Georgetown (MP 69.4, 40 mph on the turnouts), and an erstwhile branch to Versailles once left to the southwest, just south of that location, when the line heads just east of due south, past another stretch of Single Track at Akers (MP 72.2, 40 mph on the turnout), a detector at "Akers" (MP 72.9), Donerail, the resumption of Two Main Tracks at Greendale (MP 77.4, 40 mph on the turnout), crossovers at Fayette (MP 79.6, 40 mph on the turnouts), a bridge over the former L&N Louisville to Winchester line and CSX Interchange Tracks (MP 80.1) at that location, a speed restriction 35 mph on curves between MP 81.5 and MP 81.8, and the junction with the former Southern line from Lawrenceburg, KY (now run by the Lexington & Ohio Railroad) at Lexington (MP 81.7).
