From the junction (30 mph on the junction) between the Indianapolis Line, coming from the west, and the Bellefontaine sub., coming north from Springfield, at CP 141/Bellefontaine (MP 140.9), the line turns north, double track, current-of-traffic (Rule 251), maximum speed 70 mph for intermodal trains, 50 mph for freight trains, and 40 mph for general merchandise trains, with a local restriction to 50 mph as far as MP 137.8, past Sandusky Avenue, where an erstwhile Toledo & Ohio Central line once left to the west, and an erstwhile Big Four line once left to the northwest, the erstwhile Bellefontaine Yard on the west side of the line, a turn to the north-northeast, with a 60 mph speed restriction for the curve at MP 137.3, Turner, Harper, detectors at "Harper" (MP 134.8), Rush/Trim and Rushsylvania.
There is a 55 mph speed restriction from MP 132.2 to MP 128.5, as the line turns just east of due north northeast to Big Springs, and then east-northeast past Ridgway, the 6,040 ft. siding at CP 124/Hayes (MP 124.7), where there is a flat crossing (50/40/40 at the crossing) with the Toledo Branch (former Toledo & Ohio Central), with connectors in the northwest (30 mph), southwest (30 mph), and southeast (10 mph) quadrants, and Two Main Tracks, CTC, replace the double track, Rule 251, Mt. Victory, dragging equipment detectors at "Mt. Victory" (MP 121.8), the start of single track, CTC, at CP 120 (MP 120.1), and La Rue.
The line turns east, past Agosta, a detector at "New Bloomington" (MP 111.1), the resumption of double track, current-of-traffic (Rule 251) at CP 105/Curleys (MP 105.5), a turn northeast, with a 50 mph speed restriction on the curve from MP 102.4 to MP 102.2, a turn east with a yard trailing in from the west where the erstwhile Erie main line once trailed in and the Erie once had its Marion Shops and Yard, the location where the erstwhile Erie Dayton Branch once trailed in from the south-southwest, and a 30 mph speed restriction from MP 101.9 to MP 99, for the flat crossings with the CSX (former C&O/Hocking Valley) Toledo line (with a northwest quadrant connector) and the Norfolk Southern (former PRR) Sandusky Line at CP 101/Marion (MP 101.5).
