Belt Junction (Indianapolis) to Bellefontaine

From Belt Junction (MP 279.1), where the Belt Running trails in from the south to the former Big Four, coming from the southwest, the latter continues northeast, Two Main Tracks, CTC, maximum speed 40 mph, past the start of a 4,750 ft. siding at Brightwood, a jog east and then northeast again at another  Belt Junction, where an erstwhile connector from the same Belt Running once trailed in from the southwest, the end of the siding at Eastwood (MP 277.8), crossovers at CP 275 (MP 275.0), detectors at "Lawrence" (MP 274.8), Lawrence (MP 274.7), crossovers at CP 273 (MP 273.5), Fort Benjamin Harrison, Oaklandon, McCordsville, and MP 269, where the maximum speed rises to 60 mph for intermodal trains, 50 mph for other freight trains, and 40 mph for general merchandise.

There are dragging equipment detectors at "McCordsville" (MP 267.1), and the line passes Fortville (MP 263.1), David, crossovers at CP 260/Ingalls (MP 260.3), a turn north-northeast past detectors at "Pendleton" (MP 257.2), Pendleton, and crossovers at CP 250 (MP 250.9), where the tracks separate for five miles, Track 1 passing a 30 mph speed restriction from MP 249.2 to CP 245, and turning east past the start of a 4,750 ft. controlled siding (30 mph on the siding) at CP 249 (MP 248.6), yard tracks on both sides of the line, the end of the siding at South Anderson Yard (MP 247.9), the junction with the Dow Secondary, turning away on both sides of the line, both north and south, at CP 246 (MP 247.6), and then turning northeast to the rejoining point.

Track 2 passes a 30 mph speed restriction from MP 249.2 to CP 245, Belt Crossing, where an erstwhile connecting line once crossed on the flat, another former flat crossing with an erstwhile connecting line, Cedar Street (MP 248.3), where the line turns just north of due east and the former Central Indiana Railway, now run by the Central Indiana & Western Railroad, trails in from just south of due west, a turn east-southeast, past the junction with the Dow Secondary, trailing in from the north and departing to the south, at CP 246 (MP 247.6), and a former flat crossing with an erstwhile PRR line at Delco, and coming back together at the crossovers at CP 245/Gridley (MP 245.7), where the line becomes double track, current-of-traffic (Rule 251), maximum speed 70/50/40.

The line turns northeast, past Chesterfield, detectors at "Chesterfield" (MP 242.0), Daleyville, Glen/Weet, Yorktown (MP 235.3), where it turns just north of due east, dragging equipment detectors at MP 233.7, the start of a 4,800 ft. siding at West Hart (MP 233.7), the end of the siding at Hart (MP 232.7), a 30 mph speed restriction (headend only), through Muncie, from MP 232.7 to MP 227.6, crossovers and a flat crossing with the NS (former Lake Erie & Western), west leg of the wye,  at CP 230 (MP 230), a flat crossing with the NS  (former Nickel Plate) New Castle District, east leg of the wye, and crossovers at CP 229 (MP 229.5), and former flat crossings with an erstwhile PRR branch and the erstwhile C&O of Indiana Chicago-Cincinnati line, at Vance (MP 228.5), before turning east past MP 227.6, where the maximum speed becomes 60/50/40 and Selma.

There are detectors at "Parker City" (MP 221.7), and the line passes Parker City, Kem/Farm, Farmland (MP 215.8), a former flat crossing with the erstwhile Grand Rapids & Indiana at Winchester, a turn just north of due east, detectors at "Harrisville" (MP 200.5), Harrisville, crossovers at CP 198 (MP 198.8), where there is a 3,200 ft. siding, the erstwhile Red Key Secondary once mde an acute-angled flat crossing, and 2MT, CTC, resume, the border between Indiana and Ohio at MP 198.6, crossovers at CP 197 (MP 197.7), Elroy, crossovers at CP 191 (MP 191.2), start of a 7,350 ft. siding, crossovers at CP 189/Ansonia (MP 189.7), where erstwhile Big Four lines once turned away north and south and the maximum speed rises to 70/50/40 again, Dawn, and detectors at "Dawn" (MP 184.5).

A former Cincinnati, Hamilton & Dayton line once crossed on the flat at Versailles (MP 181.5), and the line turns east-northeast, past Russia, Houston, Tebo/Burk, and Lamb, turning east past detectors at "Hardin" (MP 169.1), Hardin, Spafford, where an erstwhile connector once headed away east-northeast (i.e., on the north side), a bridge over the former B&O Cincinnati to Toledo line at Sidney (MP 163.7), a bridge over the Great Miami River, a turn east-northeast, past Rick, a turn east past Mix, dragging equipment detectors at "Pemberton" (MP 158.0), Pemberton, the flat crossing (50/50/40 on the crossing) with the former Detroit, Toledo & Ironton at CP 153/Morgan (MP 153.5), and Quincy.

The line turns northeast, past DeGraff and detectors at "DeGraff" (MP 149.8), east northeast with a 60 mph speed restriction from MP 148 to MP 147.7, past Gretna, and east with a 60 mph speed restriction from MP 144.1 to MP 143.8, past dragging equipment detectors at MP 144.0, to the junction (30 mph on the junction) with the Bellefontaine sub., coming north from Springfield, at CP 141/Bellefontaine (MP 140.9), where the line turns north.
